I didn't say ban them, big 3's mngt made shitty planning decisions locking into employee contracts that kill them.
When will people realize the car companies only sell what the consumer wants? The American auto industry sold large, fuel inefficient cars in the 70s because that is what the American consumer demanded. Smaller, fuel efficient cars from Europe and Japan (where gas prices were already much higher than here) did not sell well here until the first gas crisis. Then everyone was blaming U.S> auto makers for "falling behind" foreign auto makers.that is not the only bad decisions the US auto industry has made. Selling the guzzlers in the 70's when people wanted more efficient autos, and did the same thing again.
usged once again you prove what a moron you are. Toyota sells more guzzlers than prius's you hillbilly.
Dunshit, have you EVER taken a business class.
Legacy medical and retirement cost are 99% of what's killing detroit.

Bullshit. If people had wanted smaller fuel efficient cars, they would have been buying the fuel efficient imports in arge numbers BEFORE the fuel crisis hit us, and the U.S. auto makers would have been making them in order to compete with the foreign imports. Which is what happened in the late 70 and early 80s.
Then between the combined factors of our economy catching up with gas prices, and cheap oil imports keeping gas prices relatively stable, the U.S. consumer started buying big gas hogs again. Only instead of large, luxury sedans, we began buying large trucks laughingly labeled "Sport Utility Vehicles". Again, it is not the fault of the auto industry for giving the consumer what they demanded.
They are a business. Businesses make money by providing what the consumers want. They do it because if they don't, they cannot compete with the other company who is giving their consumers what they want. We wanted big trucks with honkin' big engines, they gave us big trucks with honkin' big engines.
Then another gas crisis hit us, and again there are those who want to blame the U.S. auto industry for selling gas guzzlers. And it is once again pure bullshit.
Businesses are NOT supposed act like parents, telling us what is good for us. It is not their place to say "you don't NEED a truck with a big honkin' engine, take this fuel efficient compact station wagon instead." Sorry, but when I go shopping for a vehicle, I want what I want, not what some company that wants to act like my mommy thinks is best for me.
What the hell has happened to the liberal movement? Not only do they want government to baby us from birth to death, now businesses are supposed to make "proper" decisions for the consumer and disregard what the consumer wants? Give it a rest.
