Is FL approaching herd immunity?

Keep in mind FL has gotten there without sacrificing their economy.

Are you claiming that the hundreds of billions in aid the US Government has given Florida was unnecessary? That would be a theft by the Republicans of an epic status. We were told that Florida had a collapsing economy so needed that money, but now you tell us they were doing fine all the time.

My theory here is you are a liar. I know people in Florida, and they confirm what the news is saying, Florida is as much of an economic mess as the rest of the world, if not more.

As for reaching herd immunity, the number of dead are still rising, so we are no where close. We may never reach herd immunity. Antibody immunity seems to fade quickly.

FL is no closer to herd immunity today than it was yesterday, or the day before.

Everything Conservatives have said about COVID has been 100% wrong.

Everything.

It's always quick, simplistic, miracle cures for the GOP.

Hydroxy
Sunlight
Bleach
Lightbulbs
Warm weather
Kids can't catch it or spread it
Herd immunity
Tax Cuts
Deregulation

All easy answers intended to avoid culpability for creating and growing this crisis through incompetence, malice, or both.

no we are in decent shape.. the theme parks are open -but tourists are way down. Our domestic economy is still OK -albeit heavily dependent on UE bennies

No you're not. Florida is a disaster. The only state in worse shape is Georgia. Hmmm...what do both states have in common?

Only because you spent the first three months of this year lying your fat ass off about the virus.

You say that as if it’s a bad thing lol.

Who told you herd immunity was a ‘fantasy’? In a twisted kind of way, Democrats look for reasons to discount it.

But here is NYT talking about it, finally:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/08/17/health/coronavirus-herd-immunity.amp.html

What’s going on here is that Democrats have a political dog in the fight: it has to be lockdown/masks/mitigation in order to keep the focus on You Know Who.

But for millions of years before Trump came along viruses would swim through populations—leaving herd immunity in its wake. When the herd immunity catches up with the virus, the virus drops off. Plot it out on a graph and you get a nifty little Bell Curve.

It’s a purely natural phenomenon. Human immune system vs virus. It’s the default explanation until proven otherwise.

It's "twisted" to be against sacrificing the lives of millions of Americans in the name of a "herd immunity" that may very well not exist?

The fuck is wrong with you people?

GIVE US BACK OUR MONEY!!!. If Florida is in good shape, it should not have taken money from the rest of the country, which is a disaster.

But we all know you are a liar, and Florida is an economic disaster along with the rest of the country.

decent shape -not "good shape"..
I just gave you the basics of the Florida economy which you ignore in favor of a personal attack

Florida has a collapsing economy, only saved by huge amounts of government spending.

like all the states.. tourism is a mess, but UE and domestic industries are OK.

We'll bounce back later, as the Corona is receeding

Anything to do with manufacturing is dead, because of supply chains. Anything to do with services are dead, because of mass unemployment. The Social Security checks keep arriving, which is super important in Florida, but that is government money.

Couple the 25% ish positive COVID antibody test with T-cell immunity and the percent of FL population immune to COVID could be approaching 50%.

Factor in FL’s dropping numbers [*something* is causing the drop] in cases and hospitalizations and it’s easy to see why herd immunity refuses to go away as very plausible explanation for what’s going on in places that had large outbreaks followed by a drop in numbers.

Virus gonna virus—Farr’s Law

Keep in mind FL has gotten there without sacrificing their economy. Maybe someone should tell Cuomo he may be harming his state and it’s citizens needlessly.

He seems to have done enough damage already.

Is Florida approaching herd immunity?

Nope.

2020 outlook: Steady auto sales, trouble in commercial trucks
Low interest rates, high employment, booming housing starts all point to a continuation of the strong auto sales market of the past five years.
