Is FL approaching herd immunity?

It's already obvious there will be vaccines as we have for the flu every year.
Herd immunity is just another way of saying bubonic plague immunity aka "hey maybe you'll survive."

That's not a plan.

In theory at least, the selection pressure should be *against* a more virulent form: the evolutionary objective is to propagate the species and if every infection lead to death of the host—then that works against the objective.

Ideally, individuals would get sick but not so sick they’d die. A dead host is a dead end for the virus. IOW, the more virulent forms get selected out of the population since they are out-reproduced by less virulent forms.

We have more than theory, we have experience with viruses, we have scientists who are expert in how viruses evolve.

I thought you people were supposed to be the ‘smart ones’. A vaccine would get us to herd immunity. Or accelerate it, when coupled seroprevalent antibodies.

Well I disagree some. I think Trumpanzees are rightly more afraid of this than they are of the mumps or chicken pox or lockjaw.
They will take it because they are selfish swine and the covid vax will protect them personally and allow them to safely fornicate
with close family relatives. A mask protects others.
They don't roll like that.

and we had to reclose bars. But we've never gone back with more economic suicide measures after that.

I was on a main drag in the middle of rush hour - 5:30 -and traffic was heavy but not backed up
A lot of people are living on unemployment -so there is more economic activity that meets the eye.

“Deaths of despair have been on the rise for the last decade,” authors said in the paper, Projected Deaths of Despair During COVID-19. “In the context of the coronavirus, deaths of despair should be seen as the epidemic within the pandemic.

And from problems not found and not treated because the medical system has been largely shut down, and from such things as known diabetics going increasingly not regulated because the medical system has been mostly shut down.
