Texas man’s concealed handgun discharges in elementary school

I don't think you even ever gave me a straight answer so I will assume the answer is you don't own a gun and have an irrational fear of guns therefore you don't want others to own them either. The kid had to answer FEDERAL questions in accordance to FEDERAL GUN LAWS to purchase a firearm.

Dude. Assume all you want. The state of TX is killing. its own children with their lax gun laws and your state government does not give a shit. Unlocked doors and people that don't go to church and bad guys with guns exist in every developed country. No where but ours do we hand murderers weapons of war. And in no country but America do we have these hundreds of mass shootings.

You fee guilty about it because you know I'm right, EVEN THOUGH I'VE TOLD YOU AT LEAST TWICE IT SEEMS WE'RE NOT GOING TO AGREE ON WHAT THE ISSUE.

By your incessant hammering me on doors being the problem I know you know now its the laws.

Now, for the last time, you think its doors and video games, I think its your lax gun laws. If you want me to respect your point of view you'd better fucking start respecting mine, sir.

And exactly why would you own a gun in Texas. Self protection.

Maybe you could move to the summer of love cop free zone in Seattle. Oh wait they had murders there didn't they?

Oh, come see us my friend. It's beautiful here, with very few mass shootings!

If they are in an environment where the law prhobits them from defending themselves maybe we should consider changing the law. Little kids have no choice. They must go to school and they can't defend themselves. We need to harden the target and we need to provide school personnel with the means to defend them. Also a church in White Settlement Texas shot and killed an armed intruder that shot a parishioner and was trying to shoot more.

I've noticed that you don't mention changing the law the way it needs to be changed -- removing these types of weapons from the hands of civilians. You all want to turn our schools into fortresses just so that gunhumpers can keep their precious murder weapons. Shall we do the same with doctors offices, movie theaters, concert venues, stores, churches? Why on Earth should peaceful civilians have to make all the changes when banning the fucking things is far less expensive and onerous?

If you truly gave a shit about children being murdered, you would be calling for the ban too. The fact that you won't even *mention* assault-style weapons tells us where your priorities lie.

I'm just continually fascinated by the acceptance level of the gunners, NRA flunkies and MAGA minions when it comes to stuff like this. You've got to wonder how many of them have lost family or friends in mass shooting and STILL talk the SOS?

They are very much like the COVID deniers and anti-vaxxers. Even if they've lost someone to the virus, they'll still refuse vaccination.

A 55-year-old Texas man was arrested after his gun discharged in an elementary school, leaving him with a gunshot wound to his leg, authorities said.

The incident reportedly triggered a lockdown at Duff Elementary School in Arlington shortly before noon Thursday.

ABC News identified the gunman as Anthony White, who is a parent to a student at the school.

So you want to eliminate AR 15s. I get it. What about my 12 gauge duck hunting shot gun or my Creedmore deer rifle do you want them too or will you be satisfied with just ARs. Do you even know how many people a year are murdered with rifles. Tell me without looking it up. Or give me your best guess. Are more people killed with blunt objects or rifles?

Oh lord, now you're panicking. Shall I help you to the swooning couch, little missy?

This is not Vietnam or the commie-crazy 1950s. There is no slippery slope or domino theory where all your precious bang-bangs will be confiscated. You guys just have a Pavlovian response every single time there's yet another mass murder and the people demand to have readily-purchased assault-style weapons banned -- again.

OK so you don't want my duck gun or my deer gun. That is a relief! Now what are you going to do when a guy walks into a school of 1st graders and starts blowing them away with a shotgun because there are no more AR 15s. And you didn't answer my question about how many people are killed with rifles every year. Care to guess without googling it?

We can predict the future from the past (which of course is why Republicans want to erase it).

How many mass school shootings have we had in the last 50 years that involved the weapons you want to deflect to?

So you own hunting firearms. So do I. You probably own a handgun or two. So do I.

You haven't mentioned that you own any sort of AR weapon though. Why is that? Answer: Because you own firearms designed for hunting. They are merely tools to you. You don't (claim to) own an AR that's designed to hunt humans. I don't own one of those either.

Can you explain why any civilian in a peaceful nation needs a weapon designed to kill our fellow humans? If your weapons and mine were as effective at mass murder as AR military-type weapons, they'd be used for mass murder too. They're not. Why?

I don't know for sure and neither do you because they aren't classified by gun. I do know only about 400 people total a year are killed by ALL rifles so since we have several school shooting every year it isn't likely they are all ARs used.

Yes I do.

I own an AR complete with night vision to hunt feral hogs with on our family farm. We have problems with large herds of wild hogs destroying our cash crop of watermelons so early in the season we bait of field and shoot as many as possible before they scatter. Then we leave the big ones laying in the fields and harvest the smaller ones to give to needy families nearby. I personally don't eat pork at all for religious reasons. So yes a high capacity fast shooting gun is a perfect tool for my needs. Fortunately hogs are smart and have a good sense of smell and the smell of a rotting hog frightens them away for awhile.. Hogs can do 10s of thousands of dollars of damage very quickly. We use the melon money for fencing feed and taxes so we have to address the hog problem. My Creedmore simply would work very well for the problem. We have shot 66 hogs this year alone.

Can you explain why any civilian in a peaceful nation needs a weapon designed to kill our fellow humans? If your weapons and mine were as effective at mass murder as AR military-type weapons, they'd be used for mass murder too. They're not. Why?
More murders are committed with .38 revolvers than any other weapon. No military uses a .38 as a side arm. You said it well when you said the gun is a tool. People tend to use the most effective tool available to them. If a pump or automatic shotgun is the only thing you have and you want to commit mass murder then you will use it. If you don't have a gun you can always crash your car into a Christmas parade. Where there is a will there is a way.

Umm, the vaccination issue is a whole other smoke and not an accurate comparison. I'm not going down that road with you AGAIN. Please refrain from cheap shot last words in that vein.

I would really like to read a report by a gunner who says, "My family member/friend was killed in a mass shooting by a perp using an assault weapon previously on the 1994 AWB list, but I STILL want them available on the open market." I would REALLY like to debate that mindset.

I know which answer I would choose. Police are humans and teachers are humans . Humans can be trained. Defending yourself is a human instinct.

It's odd how you RWers insist that TEACHERS must be trained with firearms. Yet you're just fine with any psycho with a grudge, disgruntled former employee, or the like to go buy a weapon capable of mass murder *with no training required at all." Seriously, WTF is wrong with you all?

BOOM! There it is! Nice shot! :good4u: I've got to use that at the next water cooler discussion.

The point is schools shouldn't need protection. Up until about twenty years ago they never did need it. That's what we should get back to, not turning them into armed camps for children.

I grew up in the suburbs of New York city...went to school there via the parochial school system. during the late 1960's and early 1970's, the popular crank stunt was calling in a bomb threat during the school day. We used fire drills in those cases. THIS garbage in the last 30 years is beyond the pale.

The games aren't the problem. Pretty much all the same games are available in Japan, South Korea, Germany, and so on.... and in some of those countries, people game even more than here. The issue is that we have a gun-saturated society.

When gunners start with the comparison to other countries, they forget (or ignore) the uniqueness of the how the current USA came to be.

When other nations were dealing with social issues, they were dealing with predominantly class, religion and caste, NOT race on the whole. Also, ethnicity of neighboring nations was always couched in that you had an access to the country of origin.

America is a nation born of colonialism, imperialism and immigration. And 2 centuries after its inception, all the inter-personal points of contention have STILL not been resolved.

As Michael Moore pointed out, you've got generations of people afraid of each other...and guns make them feel safe.
