I suppose after years of their lips firmly planted on the Toadstool's backside, they've finally given up all pretense to morality, virtue, family values, Christianity, ethics... or defending our Constitution.
Which of the commandments is it?? The first??Fourth??

*NOT* especially "legally." Legally, it means any sex other than heterosexual intercourse. You haven't consulted any lawyers on the matter. Ask me how I know.
I used to operate under your misunderstanding. Then I learned otherwise from a lawyer, and then I learned that practically every culture has a word equivalent to "sodomy" which carries the connotation of "unnatural sex" or "immoral sex" from which the word "sodomy" comes and moral, or lesson, which served as the basis for the Biblical story Sodom and Gomorrah, i.e. the society that allows degenerate sex will see itself destroyed. American sodomy laws were normally very vague so as to afford prosecutors full leeway in prosecuting those who riled the sensibilities of the community and homosexual men were often the targets of zealous prosecutors.
In July of this year, sodomy laws were used to put a Florida woman in jail for a "sex crime" without having to hold a separate trial in which children would be required to testify (again). I only mention this because sodomy is pretty much unenforceable now in the US but many states keep vague sodomy laws on the books as a tool in unusual cases.
LOL. Misunderstanding. I am aware of the laws in the past that referred to homosexual acts. Alan Turing comes to mind.

You missed the point. Sodomy laws were not limited to homosexual acts. If you were aware of the laws then you know that fellatio is also sodomy.

Deplorables are heavily biased by their experience with white anglo Saxon Protestantism and their lack of knowledge of Christian history and theology.
Protestantism is a minority Christian faith in the world.
Protestants, and Protestants uniquely, insist the bible is the sole authority on matters of theology.
Other faith traditions do not elevate the bible as the sole authority on matters of religion and faith. In the Catholic tradition, there is two thousand years of writings by the Church fathers, papal decrees, Vatican councils, ecclesiastical councils which establish accepted Christian theology and practice.
