It's far worse than that. The defense wants this to be the end of investigations into Bagman for virtually everything and anything. The prosecution disagrees. The defense lawyers told them, "Then rip it up!" That is they aren't accepting the plea deal unless it ends investigations.
The judge has jumped into it questioning the deal, particularly on the gun charge. The prosecution has gone 'deer in the headlights' on that, while the defense is screaming about any change and they're out.

All of that says, to me, the plea deal is sunk like the Titanic.

Yeah, it died. The Defense believed that this would end investigations, when the Prosecution noted that future prosecutions were not covered and investigations were ongoing the Defense decided they didn't want to agree to that. The Judge pretty much had no choice but to allow him to plea differently.

That and the judge definitely wasn't buying the diversion program thing for the gun charge. It was clear she expected criminal charges to be pressed in that one, most likely a felony level charge.

Exactly. Bagman didn't pay taxes for nearly a decade but the statute of limitations, due entirely to DOJ foot dragging I might add, left them with only two chargeable years of tax evasion.
