We're a pro-choice nation

Of course it's not wrong...it's two murders...two deaths....

How many women who got an abortion are sitting in a cell after having been found guilty of murder? None, you comment is fucking stupid. abortions are legal dumbshit.

If you shoot a pregnant women you will be charged with her murder and the death of her child...

Hello BartenderElite,

And getting more so. Close to 60% consistently in polls support a woman's right to choose.

Everyone has the same goal: make abortions rare.

But keep them legal. It's middle ages stuff to ban them.

I would like to hear the results of a poll.

One question: "What does the world really need?"

The one answer I would expect to be unheard or very rare:

"More humans."

What humanity ought to do for itself is to pass out free contraception and make abortion as widely available as possible - particularly in the poorest regions of the world.

We are drawn to feeding the poor. OK, that's all good. But we are fools if the free food doesn't come with birth reduction. That will save more suffering than all the free food we can produce.

Hello ptif219,

Wrong we are not a pro-choice nation. Sonn you will have to buy an EV there is no choice. A mother killing her child is not a choice it is barbaric and a terrible action taken by the doctor and the Mother

Democrats want abortion right up to birth. The do not want them rare since that would hurt their wonderful Planned Parent hood

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/backlash-builds-after-democrats-vote-legalize-abortion-until-birth

It is not a child if it has not been born. Children have birthdays.

I can honestly say in all sincerity that I can't even begin to understand the above, TOP.
It defies everything I perceive as reality.

When they cut the umbilical cord, the entity becomes a human being.
Up until then, it's a part of the woman to do with what she pleases.
That what I see in the real world in which I live.

You're not charged with two murders in Massachusetts, by the way.

Hello ptif219,

No.

These states say it is a child. More to come.

Well, people have been charged with two murders for doing just what I described... it's two deaths after all... I doubt that you referred to your children throughout your wife's pregnancy as the embryos... and I'm Almost sure that your wife never had an embryo shower... did you never announce to the world that you were having a baby? Did you pick a name before they were born? Not trying to be argumentative just pointing out some things that are probably facts but if I'm wrong please let me know...

Hello Walt,

The further Republicans push this, the more Democrats are going to win...

Hey, I get it. Sometimes something is so morally wrong, it is better to lose while fighting it, than to win while giving in to it. But make no mistake about it, this is a loser for Republicans.

Side point, if abortion is murder, then shouldn't it be illegal even when it is a 12 year old rape victim? So why aren't Republicans loudly saying they are against 12 year old rape victims getting abortions?

Some are. Look at Oklahoma.

Far right wing Republican extremists: 'Unborn' lives matter. Black lives do not matter. Gun victim's lives don't matter. Impoverished lives don't matter. Rich white male lives do matter. Money is their god. They worship a lying billionaire criminal defendant.

If you shoot a pregnant women you will be charged with her murder and the death of her child...

Indeed.

The unborn baby is a separate entity residing inside the mother.

It has a separate heart, lungs etc. and DNA.

What a crock.

The far left doesn't care for the victims of crimes or the life of the unborn child.

They crush its head or kill it with prescription medicine.

How barbaric is that?

Hello Frank,

So are you suggesting that in order to avoid tyranny...a minority should be able to rule over a majority???

Well, that's kind of what we have, right?

It is the rich who really tell our government what to do.

The right is so worried about tyranny. Ha. That is precisely what they are protecting when they protect big money.

Indeed.

The unborn baby is a separate entity residing inside the mother.

Of course he or she is... but I realize that not everyone wants to accept that fact... and that is their choice....It's understandable why so many women want to believe that all they're doing is eliminating cells...

Hello Port Tack,

Not only are they not murder, they are unconstitutional. Taking away a womans rights is unconstitutional, a fetus has none until it is born.

Thank you.

I would add:

How could terminating a fetus be murder if a fetus is not counted in the Census, or for the purposes of drawing district lines for Congress?

You can't make a chicken dinner out of an egg.

An egg is an egg. A chicken is a chicken.

An egg is not a chicken until it hatches.

Our children were both planned.
Neither of us would have been thrilled with an accident.
We were diligent not to have accidents.

Then, when the Gestapo decided it was go time, she let me know that I was firing at a live target,
and trying to wait until she was asleep to go to bed was attempted but didn't work. She gets what she wants.

I adored my kids once they arrived, but they were entirely the Gestapo's idea; I never saw myself as a dad until the role was thrust onto to me.

When our daughter was born, it was the first time that either the Gestapo or I lived in a family with four people.
We adjusted, but brought up our kids as if they were each only children because that's all that we knew.

Sibling interaction was not something we knew anything about, so we asked them to not acknowledge one another's existence,
but they totally ignored that suggestion.

They both basically did whatever the fuck they wanted. Only absolutely essential rules were applied
so they wouldn't grow up as assholes that we wouldn't want to recognize as our own doing.
For example, I didn't let my son wear brown shoes after 6PM.
We could not enforce regimental family order that we never experienced ourselves.

Yes, people have babies. They're babies after they're born,
and maybe we think of them as babies before that...
IF WE PLANNED AND WANTED THEM. It makes all the difference in the world.
No child should come into the world unwanted.
It's a tough enough place as it is.

And that's yet another thing that anti-abortion zealots don't realize.
They think that abortion is for the convenience of the unwilling parents.
It's even more essential to spare the unwanted child the inevitable grief in store for it.

They are babies before they're born.... wanted or unwanted... Think about it... you can't look at an ultrasound and tell if he or she is wanted....or is not....People should really stop using that as an excuse that somehow justifies abortion... People also use the wanted/unwanted /no longer wanted anymore excuse when it comes to their animals... that's another discussion for another thread... ( We certainly do think differently ...that's why I'm always glad we can have civil conversations... that is unusual here...very unusual...)

Not in all states.

A state has a right to make laws...and if it is against the laws of the state in question...all is according to the books.

There is a difference between someone causing the end of a pregnancy not occurring within the body of the causer...and a woman choosing to end a pregnancy occurring in er own body.

Let me ask this, though...

...if a pregnant woman decides to use her pregnancy for use as a children deduction on her taxes...is she allowed to do so?

This.

I would agree in desperate circumstances, but not birth control. Oh, and in most instances, it takes two to procreate.

By law unfortunately, yes, I believe?

Jewish law does not share the belief common among abortion opponents that life begins at conception, nor does it legally consider the fetus to be a full person deserving of protections equal those accorded to human beings. In Jewish law, a fetus attains the status of a full person only at birth.
