Well, Obama being a racist bigot certainly didn't help. Then his being a Leftist was a blow because the Left never, ever, accepts any view but their own.

As for Trump, his problem is that he's a bloviating braggard and blowhard who engages his mouth without fully connecting to his brain. But a large part of his problem was the MSM has shifted far enough Left that it has the same unacceptance of anything they disagree with instilled in it now. That meant no matter what Trump said, however rational or irrational, it was going to be twisted into the most negative connotation and meaning the MSM could make it.
Trump created divisiveness simply by not being a Leftist. His mere existence to the Left was an affront they could not let go of. This is why, depending on the media outlet, up to 95% + of what the reported on him was negative. Everything Trump said was then said by the MSM to be "a lie."

Obama created division by repeatedly siding with Black criminals early in widely reported incidents that incited rioting and protests. He did it more than once. As facts came out he usually had to walk back or shut up about the incident.

That was one great example of Obama's inherent bigotry and naïve view of American society. First, Biden was present only to equal out the numbers by race (racist). Then, Obama naively assumed that Sgt. James Crowley, the officer involved, being a "working man" would drink beer. In this he is joined by Pocahontas, Indian princess, Lizzy Warren and her beer drinking charade.

Whether Obama's creation of division was intentional or not, his merely being a Leftist was going to cause it because the Left is generally not clued in to what the average person is thinking, doing, or saying.

Trump will be viewed by future historians much, much, better than the media narrative.

He was the first President of the young century that stopped the bleeding in the Middle East. He produced a record setting economy that gave jobs to a record number of blacks and minorities.

He led a populist uprising against the established elite of both parties and the media. He reformed a calcified Republican Party into a party built around economic ‘America First’ nationalism that brought in millions of new minority voters—especially new Hispanic voters in spite of being unfairly maligned by a hostile media as a racist.

The degradation of the media in the Trump years will get its own chapter.

But his presidency was derailed by a virus that was either released from China or was allowed to escape from China as the murderous communist regime dithered and lied to the United States and the world about it. He was very likely denied a second term only on account of China’s duplicity and his opponents success in scapegoating his administration for its effects on the economy and it’s death toll.

And in what turned out to be an historic political miscalculation on his part, Trump fought to the end over the results of the 2020 election which itself, will get its own chapter.

Overall, the Trump presidency will be remembered as easily the most consequential presidency of the last 50 years. And arguably the most consequential single term of any presidency in history.
