What I don't get is if a man wants to cut off his arm because he wants to become an amputee, they will say he has a mental issue and needs help and Dr's won't perform the surgery.
But if the same man wants to cut off his penis to become a women, that's perfectly fine! No mental issues at all!

True -- and most of all, why the seeming switch in political allegiance? When I was growing up, those on the left were anti-science. Remember the protests about Dow Chemical, Standard Oil, atomic-anything? Science was seen as scary. Science brought us the nuclear age. Conservatives supported science and scientific R&D and saw it as crucial to the future and to national security. Science was well-funded back then.
Now most of the science-deniers are on the right. It's the (D)s who want to fund science. It puzzles me.
