by the way, if I were a federal employee and I had scheduled my spring vacation for next week I would be pissed.....
Thats exactly how healthcare got passed.
Didn't read the article, did you?
You and many others won't be buying and selling with the federal government, though, will you?
I don't get food stamps, but you'll be glad to know those who do need them will continue to get them for a while.
When you're "sure" of something, that's a solid guarantee.![]()
odd....I don't remember reports of a single business closing down the last time it happened....
you didn't qualify "buying and selling" as only with the federal government....
nice back peddle though
"If the government shuts down, no buying or selling will happen.
There will be companies...that will be so adversely affected by this shutdown that they will not be able to open again in the end."

precisely.....if they could shove healthcare down our throats, why couldn't they have passed a budget any time they wanted....
The last time this happened we paid federal employees even though they didn't work, plus paid them overtime to get caught up.....I thought that was really stupid.....I hope we don't do that again......
they shoved health care down your throat? how so? do you have to pay for it by force at this time? just how did "they" do it?
Democrats won a popular election running largely on a platform and campaign that repeatedly, vocally included implementing a plan for universal healthcare. Winning an election on that and then following through on the promise is hardly ramming it down anyone's throat.
Elections have consequences....
.......Elections have consequences....
says the guy who supported the dems running away from wisconsin
elections only have consequences in your universe onceler....when the left wins
Yep, and you felt a sampling of those consequences in 2010, with more consequences to follow in 2012..... How you enjoying it, pinhead?
Oh, no - I wouldn't say that. They definitely had consequences when the love of your life, George Bush, won in 2000 & dragged America into an unneccessary, counter-productive war for 7+ years.
That wasn't a good consequence, though. At least w/ this popular mandate, people get healthcare...
It's not so bad. The GOP is doing exactly what I predicted they'd do, but much more quickly - overplaying their hand, pissing off independents & setting themselves up for a pretty short run in the majority...
Meh, doesn't look that way from the polls I am watching. Looks to me like Independents are breaking more toward the GOP every day, and away from the D's. Something like 48% of the country would rather see ANY Republican be the next president over Obama..... so, better get to work campaigning for your messiah, he's not doing to good at the moment.
Let's see those polls.
I saw this one:
"Nearly half of all Americans have an unfavorable view of the tea party movement, putting it in the same company as the Democratic and Republican parties, according to a new national poll.
This is the first time that a CNN poll has shown the tea party's unfavorable ratings as high as those of the two major parties," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."

you start off bashing only the republicans for wanting to shut government down
i come along and show you obama is willing to do so as well. you fight and fight and deflect and deflect as best you can, without simply saying....yeah yurt...that's true. so after about a half dozen posts....you finally acknowledge my point, you should have simply acknowledged it in the beginning.
what a waste of time trying to tear my point down, but at least you finally admit it, instead of deflecting. good job nigel. though you could have just saved yourself some time and just acknowledged this earlier instead of being an obamabot apologist.
I am Independent and although I am disappointed in Obama on some issues, I would rather stick with what I know than Michele Bachmann or any of the other potential candidates the GOP has offered up thus far.
