I agree with Mott 100% that racism is still prevalent in modern day America. A country with such a deep tradition of white supremacy doesn't outgrow it so quickly.

One other thing that it'd be good to add is that the structure of our economy is inherently racist. We have a racial groups still suffering from segregatatory policies of the past century. Black neighborhoods are still disproportionately poor, as are schools in these areas, along with social services - our class structure is so perpetuating that it could almost be considered barbarous.

So those black neighborhoods being disproportionately poor are solely because of racism? There aren't any other factors? Really? What racist policies/actions are keeping them poor?

Being a middle aged black American, I wouldn't have been shocked or surprised by that article. SOS, different day.

while things have improved for those of 'color' in this nation, there is a long ways to go. it may take another century or at least several generations for the automatic racism to seriously abate even though i hope it happens sooner.

several years ago my son visited Europe and ran into discrimination against Jews (he is Jewish) on a train on the German Swiss border. among other things he ran into an old Jew that told him what he had to avoid. like the in the u s of a, some Europeans feel about Jews the way we feel about the 'colored' and some of them run in packs.

You don't need to 'prove' it: anyone who believes there are distinct 'races' of humans nowadays is deliberately choosing to believe drivel, presumably because s/he was brainwashed by parents or to allow the expression of half-witted hate.
