No, it's just natural for folks to support the political party that treats them special. But then the Democrats have always treated blacks special. Wouldn't you agree?

Like I said....when.minorities.start out three feet below.sea.level....it is leveling the playing field. When poor inner city school districts don't have the tax base to have high performing schools like in the suburbs and the wealthier parts of town, when.poverty and desperation cause dysfunctional in the family structure(alcoholism, drugs, criminal behavior, gang affiliation, etc)....you can't possibly believe that they have "every opportunity to succeed" as a white, middle class suburbanite does.

What about the blacks who live in the "white, middle class" neighborhoods? They are eligible for Affirmative Action Forever. How about the whites who live in the "poor inner city school districts"? They are not eligible. How is that a level playing field?

Also, you didn't explain your bigotry against folks who choose to live in a type of house that is different than yours. You seem to be avoiding that question as well.

I don't have a bigotry against folk who live in mobile homes....I spent my teenage years in one....it's not the people....it's the mentality. The "the only reason I am where I am is because of ________" (you fill in the blank).

What about those people? Federal programs are, by and large, needs based. So the inner city white kid who's dirt poor has access to them and the middle class minority in the suburbs doesn't. Many of the scholorships that you concern yourself with that are specifically minority oriented are private scholorships by minority centered establishments like the NAACP.

As far as the job market is concerned...no one says that you have to hire a black guy when there's more qualified people who happen to be white. It's just saying that if two people are equally qualified, why NOT give it to the black guy, considering the employment demographics of the race?

2. We are not discussing "needs based" programs. Affirmative Action Forever is not a "needs based" program. It is a race-based program.

No two people are equally qualified, since everyone is unique, so your scenario of white and black candidates being exactly equal is not possible. What AFF does is put a lesser qualified candidate ahead of another, simply because of his color.

Affirmative Action absolutely does NOT require any employer to hire a less qualified black candidate over a more qualified white candidate, even if the difference is marginal. If you can document what about the white candidate made him the better choice, besides the color of his skin, that is, you have no problems.

DY, when you can assure me that every kid - regardless of race - has equal schooling, equal opportunities.... when my cousin can walk down the street and not be avoided for the color of his skin... when there isn't racist s*** on this board... when corporate boards are made up of women and minorities in proportion to their presence in our country... and when ditto for politicians... when you can show me that minorities and women are no longer judged by their race or gender... THEN we can talk about getting rid of affirmative action.

But you see -when you go in for a job interview - no one can tell you live in a trailer. They can tell if you are minority and/or female.
