Now That's Taking the Bull by the Horn!

Maybe he'll jump in at the last 100 Yards of the Boston Marathon and claim victory...
It doesn't matter, as long as he is perceived as the winner. Wether or not this move by Obama actually accomplishes anything is certainly debatable and will have to see what happens over time if anything is accomplished. But from a political stand point it's a brilliant move.

You are an idiot if you think ANY of this disaster will ever play favorably for Obama. The 'brilliant' political move, would have been Obama announcing (two months ago) that every available piece of equipment to combat the oil had been dispatched to the gulf, and every good idea for how to clean it up was being implemented. That normal EPA red tape had been suspended, while we do everything in our power to mitigate the damage to our coast and wetlands. THAT would have won him some brownie points, but instead, we got feckless leadership, and a bunch of meaningless liberal double-speak...which we are still getting, along with a dose of blame BP for it all!

If there is a positive side to this disaster, it is how it has glaringly revealed how ineffective the federal government really is, and how private enterprise is much better suited to address a crisis and deal with the problems. The Feds have literally done nothing but stand in the way, and blame BP!

"how private enterprise is much better suited to address a crisis and deal with the problems."

Just so you know - the 'private enterprise' in this case was BP.

Yes Onzies... and it is BP who has been attempting to cap the well, it is BP who is trying to disperse the oil already spilled, and it will be BP who writes the checks for the damages. NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

Yep - and BP who wasn't prepared for the spill, basically lied about the extent of it for awhile, and who still haven't found a way to really stop it.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah - we can rest easy when we put things in the hands of private enterprise...

We don't know the details of what happened yet, don't know if BP was at fault or derelict in their actions, those are emotive liberal accusations at this point, and it remains to be seen what the fact are here. Regardless, it has been BP who has actually been doing the work to stop the leak, not the government. All the government has done is stood in the way, pointed the finger of blame, and TALKED.

Another thing I wonder about... What if Bush had used the Katrina disaster to promote his Faith-based Initiatives program? The libtards would have been outraged that he used a disaster to promote his political agenda... while The Messiah get's a pass on doing exactly that with his promoting Cap and Trade! Just another example of hypocrisy from the left.

I can only imagine what would have been said if this disaster had occured prior to January 2009.

1) BP was absolutely derelict in their actions. The fact that they essentially had NO contingency plan worth any merit show that quite clearly.

2) BP also cut corners, that much has been shown at this point.

3) Either the leak escalated in volume or they grossly underestimated/reported the pace of the spill.

I can't believe that the US and Great Britain are the only nations that allow this type of drilling that do not require the relief well to be drilled in parallel for just such a contingency...

Oh, they would have been launching a senate investigation over whether this was done on direct orders from Bush and Cheney, or whether they acted alone in the sabotage! Because they wanted Obama to be saddled with this because he is black... those oil rigs don't just blow up and sink, you know? ....must be an evil neocon plot... Rachel Madow would be interviewing 'eyewitnesses' who saw Cheney swim out to the rig and set the charges... he's a Reptilian you know? Yeah, the left would be spinning their little pinheads off over this, if it had happened before Obama took office.

1) This has not yet been established.
2) The Federal Government is responsible for the oversight... that IS THEIR DUTY!
3) There is no way to accurately measure it, never has been, and still isn't.

As for the contingency plans... there is no contingency plan for when the safety mechanisms fail due to catastrophe. The rig SANK... they don't have a plan for what to do when that happens, because frankly, it never happens!

do you even know what circulating mud is?

Well, I'm not involved in drilling for oil; but yes, I have a good idea of how it's used.

My original post was:
Everyone is railing against BP and yet there hasn't been one iota of PROOF that they did anythng wrong.

And here I thought that even businesses were innocent, until proven guilty.

This doesn't mean that I don't think they have some responsibility; but this is becoming nothing more then a witch hunt and everyone's solution is to bind them, throw them in the water, and if they sink, then they were innocent.

Show me what BP has done, that has been PROVEN to be illegal.

And my question now is, what does your post have to do with what I said??
