Now That's Taking the Bull by the Horn!

No... that is more like staying up on the porch with the puppies, trying to show the people he is actually 'in charge'.

He would be better served to actually be working on following the advice of Robinson...
getting every piece of oil removal equipment/technology in the Gulf NOW....

Since he won't more light shines on his true agenda, which is to nationalize the means of oil production. Obama cares nothing about the environment.

that certainly is taking the bull by the horns.
The $64 billion dollar question is wether BP knuckles under or tells Obama to take a hike.
It's huge as BP could say it's only paying $75M which they have every right to under the law.

You're right that would be interesting. I have a hunch, given past history, that BP would lose. Just look into how TR handled the issues of Trusts and Monopolies. This would be reminiscent of the clash between TR and Rockefellers Standard Oil. Rockefeller and Standard Oil lost that fight.

But in the short term but broader political respect it's brilliant. Obama was in danger of this disaster kidnapping his administration. There's only so much the government can do in terms of the remediation response and that's a slow process that will take a long time to clean up. The only real solution is to complete drilling the by-pass well, and that to is pretty much out of Obama's control. So what do do? Directly lead something you can control. The process for compensation for damages. Politically speaking this places him right back in the drivers seat. I bet your going to hear all sorts of irrational comments about this from the wing nuts.

This is a fight BP wants no part of, and the Brits can't fight for shit. They will run from this fight faster than they ran from the Germans and Dunkirk.

Gee; I wonder who he's going to appoint to oversee this and how much Obama is goint to syphon off, from the monies, to pay for this "help".
Well I'm sure you have a very good point. After all, it's well known that BP can be trusted to manage all claims for damage in a fair and equitable manor.

I think that any corporation with a healthy sense of self preservation wouldn't want to take on the White House regardless of who its occupant is.

Everyone is railing against BP and yet there hasn't been one iota of PROOF that they did anythng wrong.

And here I thought that even businesses were innocent, until proven guilty.

This doesn't mean that I don't think they have some responsibility; but this is becoming nothing more then a witch hunt and everyone's solution is to bind them, throw them in the water, and if they sink, then they were innocent.

Show me what BP has done, that has been PROVEN to be illegal.

This is more like Bush going to the border in his blue work shirt driving around in a golf cart than it is "taking the bull by the horns"...

I expect tonight he'll say more of the right things, then do something different that causes this to take still longer than it should have.

Obama is like a doctor who waited until his patient died because he wasn't able to fully comprehend the danger if he allowed the cancer to spread.

Can't let a good crisis go "wasted"... If you can somehow construe it to push through a bad agenda that nobody wants, then that's what you do...

Brilliant political move and boy can I hear the wind wooshing from all the oil mens assholes puckering at the same time! LOL

Huh?

I want to read an article that reports what HE DOES DO, not what he says he's going to do. We've had enough of that these last two months, t y v m.

Christ Hoopy. I think if Obama had a successful bowel movement you'd find a way to cheer it on as some BIG MOVE!

Another "blame Obama rant". Complete with it's own "rant within a rant".

Eugene Robinson. Never has there been a conservative who cared MORE about the little guy...a.k.a. "the stockholders". I especially liked this part:

"Enough of asking BP. The company is responsible for the spill and must be made to pay dearly. But BP management answers to the company's shareholders, not to the American people."

So BP has a responsibility to it's shareholders, but NOT to the people whose lives have been destroyed.

Typicl myopic viewpoint supported by so many on this board.

There was only so much the government could do about the damage done by Katrina, and that took a long time to clean up as well.... but I don't recall anyone cutting Bush some slack there, I remember non-stop media coverage focused on Bush's slow response. I wonder how well that would have gone for Bush, if he has spent the first two months TALKING about how he was working hard with some of the greatest minds to come up with a solution?

Two months into this thing, and Obama is still talking.... meeting with other politicians... finally meeting with the BP CEO... pontificating on how we'll actually improve the water in the gulf as a result of this... telling us all it will pass... he is going to do some studies... appoint a panel... and make another trip to the coast to walk along the oil ravaged beaches.... eat some seafood to show people it's still okay... give a speech or two... issue a press release... oh, and never miss an opportunity to plug cap and trade legislation while he's at it... but real live ACTION? We've seen absolutely NOTHING!

There are any number of companies waiting in the wings with equipment, products, and ideas for how to clean up the oil in the gulf, and they have been completely stymied by Obama's EPA, while the Gulf continues to fill with oil! How long do we have to keep listening to Obama run his mouth, before we can move in the crews to start cleaning up the actual oil in the gulf? That's what I would like to know?

Not shocking that you show the level of dumbfuck knowledge on what happened.
