Malania Trump's speech stolen from Michelle's word for word.

Eh, I don't know. There's a theory of "white woman fragility" that could be behind some of this. We know that had Michelle Obama done this, no quarter would be given. No quarter. If they could hang her, they would have. But that goes to Sojourner Truth's Ain't I A Woman.

Now we have Melania Trump. A lot of white boys are deeply upset, and I mean white boy libs. I mean one Ezra Klein. I have seen some literally, I kid you not, shaking with rage and wanting everyone to know it. And it's all been about poor Melania. Someone did this to her. Who did this to her? We must have their head. Why isn't donald taking the head of the monster who would do this to this woman?

So, how much of this is white woman fragility? And how much of it is what was in Matt Lauer's eyes yesterday morning on that plane, when the pig couldn't even help himself from laying hands on the woman right in front of her husband, he just had to touch that. And all along all his eyes said was:

Dat ass.

So how much are nude photos?

And I admit I'm just not smart enough to know! LOL But it's all working against the Don, because the honor of a white woman has been harmed. And a man must do, what a man does. Don't ask me what a man does in cases like this, and my guess is, don't ask any right wing men either! LOL

Protect the white queen vs Dat Ass. You tell me. In the meantime, I am just gonna enjoy watching the Donald trying to decide whether to shit or wind his watch.

Yes, I wrote my post, then saw yours and thought, ILA, USF and Tom will be along shortly to call me a Darlak or whatever cute name they can think up, it made me smile! The bully brigade!

The thing is at least Mott admits he is a pig at times.
What's this "At times" shit? ;)

I'm not being a pig here. I'm voting for President. Unless their spouse is a political professional too, they are a non-factor to me. I could care less who is going to be First Lady or First Lad.

I mean come on...give me my due. I'm not exactly giving anyone a pass here. I'm just stating the obvious. The majority of voters could care less about her speech.

Please remember the fact remains we in no way know that in fact anyone did this to Melania Trump. She could very well have done it to herself. We do not know.

Especially, when she claimed that she wrote it herself, mostly, by herself that is. Now Donald is frantically removing those words of Richard Nixon from his upcoming speech!

It's actually the kind of thing an amateur speechwriter would do.

They'd google past speeches from spouses, and take the parts that really appealed to them. Then, they'd re-word to make them more specific to their own POV and more their own.

Whoever did it just forgot to do the re-write on that section. But if it was her, it's still a terrible reflection on the campaign not to go over it & check things like that.

punditry masquerading as coverage.

what some people miss is that there is a huge incentive for the media to push clinton this cycle. More so than normal. It would be devastating for the media if Trump won without the billions that clinton is planning to spend. Remember most of that goes directly into advertising. If it can be proved that you dont need to spend the billions the democrats want to to win then their 4 year income boost is gone.

Yeah I agree.

LOL I saw someone tweet:

Breaking news, Donald's convention speech leaked: Four score and seven years ago...

Oh I definitely agree with you on the double standard and what Mrs. Obama has gone through the last 8 years from right wing media and pundits has been about as low class as you can get.

Rana has a point too. Melania did have a chance to tell her story and show she's more than just eye candy but...didn't work out that way, did it?

Before copy-gate broke, she was getting raves from everyone. I was kind of surprised; I thought it was a really pedestrian, generic kind of speech. I thought she missed an opportunity to show a more human side of Trump.

I mean, I don't have high expectations of the spouse speech, anyway, so didn't really fault her for it. I just didn't get the huge praise it was getting right afterward.

Update: Melania Trump plagiarized several lines from Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech

Twenty two out of twenty six words verbatim.

Update: It appears Melania Trump’s speechwriters copied more than a paragraph of her speech from Michelle Obama’s 2008 address to the Democratic National Convention.
As Twitter user Jarrett Hill noted, Melania’s speech closely tracked several sentences that Michelle Obama used in her speech.

NPR carried the original text of Obama’s speech. The relevant section is here, and areas of common phrasing have been bolded:
And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.
And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them
.

Below is the section of Melania Trump’s speech, as transcribed by Quartz:
From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily life. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son. And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. Because we want our children in this nation to know that their only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
The original text of this post follows below:
Although she was slated to be the highlight of night one of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Melania Trump’s proper, poised speech offered no particular insights into her husband as a candidate, or a person. In fact, she was perhaps outshined by her predecessor, former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, who energetically praised the billionaire.

She claims to have written the speech herself with " as little help as possible."

Should we call it SpeechGate?

The liberals reaction it priceless.

Yes, we know. This is going to bring Trump down. Just like what he said about Megyn Kelly, and what he said about McShamnesty and what he said about illegals and what he said about muslimes and................................

He is still within striking distance in the polls.

That isn't defending him. That is stating facts

A) It's defending him.
B) If this was Hillary, you'd be all over it. If this was Michelle Obama, you'd be all over it.
C) They just lost the 1st night of their most important week. They might lose the whole week.
D) It's defending him.

The best thing about this is thinking of EXACTLY what the right-wing reaction would have been had Michelle Obama done this.

The Obamas would have been absolutely vilified. There would have been a "speech truther" group or something that would still be going strong.

You've said that is Yurt's calling card. Are you Yurt? LOL

Ha ha, you're doing it again, you're acting like you claim Yurt acted. LOL

Nah. See, the thing w/ you, Yurt, is that it's a pathology. It's a constant, repetitive behavior - not just a comment here or there. Daily threads started, and a real obsessive behavior about it.

Everyone makes the offhand comment like that now & again. With you, it's the relentless & disturbing focus on it.
