Have you ever been proud of your race?

A lot of purists hate the new country. Some of it doesn't even sound as country as the Eagles - it's pretty much pop.

I like a lot of the songs, though; still like some of the traditional stuff, as well - though the twangy "my wife left me and my dog died" stuff doesn't appeal to me...

C'mon....listen to the lyrics of George Jones' "He stopped loving her today"...one of the ultimate "crying in your beer" songs. Excellently crafted song...and effective. I love storytelling songs.

You're right about the Eagles thing though....it was really the best point of comparison that I could think of....I blame Hank Jr. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of his stuff....but he laid the groundwork for the stuff that's on the radio now.

Yeah, I do really like George. It really comes down to songs; I can deal w/ anything if the song is well-crafted and genuinely good. There is even some rap out there that I love.

I didn't realize Hank Jr. was to blame for the new trend. Though I think it reached its apex when Carrie Underwood did "Walk this Way" with Steve Tyler at a recent CMA award show; the look of disgust on some of the old timers was priceless.

Well...I don't know if that's official....but that's who I blame anyway.

She's trying to be clever and reference the Bible (which I'm pretty sure she doesn't believe in) talking about pointing out the faults of others while you have faults of your own.

Specifically - Matthew 7:3-5 - And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, “ Let me remove the speck from your eye ’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

I'm sure desh's eyes are pretty clear since she's been preaching non-stop since Saturday pointing out the faults of all who might be right of ... I don know ... Her maybe.

the bible is an historical document.

One does NOT have to be a Christian to recognize things in the bible that are wise.

Jesus was one of the great world philosophers of man.

The fact that you take offense at me citing the bible shows how fucked in the head you are.

YOU DONT OWN THE BIBLE
