Dems hit 1st night out of the park

And you know what? Just like Iraq is the legacy for Nader voters, SCOTUS will be the legacy for "principled" Bernie supporters.

Though I have a hunch that Trump will infuriate the right by going all Souter w/ his appointments. He hardly listens to anyone - but he does listen to Ivanka, who is going to always be in his ear on women's rights.

Welp, he's not going to place Hillary's name into nomination tonight. So why not? In my view, Bernie always wants something for Bernie. I know this is not the widely held view of him, but when the books are written, I bet they prove me right.

Hillary placed Obama's name into nomination and asked for nothing in return. Today it was reported there was a negotiation. What did Bernie demand? Well whatever, he's not going to be doing it. And all I am doing is speculating right?

You could tell it got to his ego on the trail, just like Nader. He got carried away with it. When his supporters were going nuts for the 1st 10-15 minutes of his speech, and he wasn't mentioning Hillary, I thought there was a chance that he'd go rogue and start talking about how they could still win this thing.

And it's not that I don't think Hillary has an ego - but she's politically smart & very practical, and can keep things in perspective (and did in '08).

My last word on Sanders' supporters, and something I was thinking all night last night: you lost. You fought hard, and got a lot of votes, but when they were all counted in the end, you lost. And sorry if you don't like those leaked emails, but politics is a pretty tough sport. And again, you lost.

So, I didn't really get the tape over the mouth thing, or the cries of unfairness. They made a mountain out of a few molehills along the way, but they lost fair & square.

Fair and square lol?

Hear that Bernie bro's? You lost fair and square so get in line and shut up about it. Yeah, that's going to go over well.

This is probably the most uninformed post you will read about this issue anywhere. You literally have no idea what you are talking about, a self-important moron who just pulls things out of his ass and states them as fact, then expects white male privilege to carry him the rest of the way.

What an idiot. It really makes me smile to see just how stupid and ignorant you really are. A mouth breather really. Thank you.

So other then you using JPP as a forum for yet another of your rants against white males, do you have anything of substance to offer?

Maybe you could take out an add and offer liberals a cut rate on your suckee fuckee. :D

I agree.

Evidence or STFU and GTFO with your distributed DNC talking points trying to change the subject that your fascist party rigged the system from the beginning we all knew and now it's been proven so now it's time for you all to take a bite of the shit sandwich which is the hopelessly corrupt DNC and Clinton campaign!

I'm going to try and be a little more objective but I do have to agree with you. Though serious cracks in the Democratic coalition were glaringly obvious and larger than in the GOP convention you didn't get the feeling of many coalitions falling apart as you did during the GOP convention. To be honest most of the speeches were boiler plate throwing out red meat.

The Dems did start theirs with far, far greater star power than the GOP did and that was significant. I agree that Warren's speech was disappointing. Long on rhetoric and short on fact or policy. Cory, to use a NASCAR phrase, hit his points and delivered and made substantive comments and got the crowed warmed up. Michelle Obama gave a damned good speech but Bernie was unquestionably the star of the night. He hit all the marks right. He urged his delegates to vote for him during the role call vote. Not because it would do anything for Bernie so much as it would keep the impetus on key aspects of his movement. The fact that the platform committee made some serious concessions to Sanders supporters was significant too. They have succeeded in pulling Hillary farther to the left than where she would probably like to be. Bernie also made a very good point to his supporters about it not being about him but about the movement they have started for Government reform.

So yea Bernie crushed it last night. If Bernie lets it go there and that's his last hurrah for this election season then it may not make much of a difference now. If, however, Bernie hits the campaign trail as a surrogate for Clinton and passionately advocates the progressive issues that Clinton has agreed too than Bernie would be a very potent surrogate for Mrs. Clinton. That would bring up the question though of "If Bernie does that, what's in it for him?". I would imagine that if Bernie actively campaigns for Clinton, as she did for Obama, then she will probably nominate him for a cabinet position.

All in all I think last night was a good night for the Dems. I think Bernie did an outstanding job of defining why his supporters should support Clinton over Trump and I think he was affective in persuading many of the Bernie Bros to stop crying and do that.

What was most significant to me was the level of star power on the Dems first night vs. the GOP's first night. This tells me that Clinton has a big advantage in surrogates who will campaign with and for her. Corry Booker, Barry and Michelle Obama, Bill, Sen. Warren, Bernie, The Bidens, etc. Where as the GOP on their first night has a bunch of C list has been hack actors and government officials no one had heard of. That was really quite telling.

I'm not sure with you, on Bernie being able to help Hillary; because it appears that Bernie's supporters feel betrayed and if he campaigns with Hillary, it may just rub the betrayal in their face.

Politics is a pretty tough sport. I really don't care what "goes over well."

They lost. What else is there to say? Why in the world did they think they'd be able to maybe eek out a win at the convention...bad math skills?

And please don't bring up superdelegates. He lost on delegates & votes. It's tough to lose, but it happens.

What was really striking was the # of supporters who were crying while he was speaking.

When that many people are that passionate, it can really effect change. I think what Bernie did this election will reverberate for decades.

Gee; I wonder if maybe they were crying, was because they felt betrayed and that he was a sell out.

But then, whatever.

Well a little history lesson - in 1992 Jerry Brown refused to endorse Bill Clinton and his dead enders booed at the convention too. Don't forget the Democratic party has always had its crackpots, the Sarandon contingent who would rather vote for Hugo Chavez (and I am dead serious and there are pics to prove it) than nearly any Democrat. I do believe they are mentally ill, but they are also extremely privileged, they are white, nearly every single one of them is white, able bodied, and so inoculated from the worst of a Trump presidency.

And here is the thing okay? They never vote Democrat. The idea that these 3rd party fanatics that Bernie brought into our tent and allowed to piss inside of it instead of pissing in from outside of it, are going to affect the outcome is ludicrous because none of them ever voted Dem in the first place. Why should Susan Sarandon be at the Democratic convention? She's not a democrat, when has she ever voted Democrat? She won't vote for Hillary, she didn't vote for Obama, she didn't vote for Gore. What is her ass doing inside my tent? See that is what I would like to know.

The lauded Millennials will vote for Hillary. The dead enders are the old Chavez crew for the most part. Sure they'll pick up a few newbies, but that won't make a difference. 90 percent of Bernie voters are already telling pollsters they will vote for Hillary. That's the story. But it's not one you'll hear much about.

By" lauded Millennials", don't you mean crackpots; as you referred to them in your first sentence.
So along with being a bigoted racist, you're also now an elitist. :palm:

And good humor for you is Trump making fun of a disabled guy.

The only people who didn't think last night was pretty great for Democrats are extreme partisans & Trump supporters. I didn't even see one story on the boos this morning (oh, I know - the media isn't everything; what "you" think is so much more vital to the narrative).

Then its because you're not looking or are just afraid to see them; because I googled "Hillary booed" and the search came back with 7,550,000 results.

There are none so blind, as those who will not see.
But then, whatever.

So, what does Hillary's private server have to do with the DNC? Are you confused?

are you confused? wikileaks is leaking a bunch of stuff about hillary. This is a direct result of her unsecure server. This has had effects on the DNC by having the chairwoman resign, and his caused some dissension in the ranks.

LOL

Guess you're new to google. I just typed in "Trump wears women's clothes" and got 2,040,000 results. Granted, not as many as the "boo" story, but that one is a bit more new.

USF - you're a hoot, man. Keep 'em coming. I need some levity after some of bravo's posts.
