Many of the tech industries fleeing the SDTC are fleeing to Texas, and some are fleeing to Oregon and Washington. A few are fleeing to Nevada.

Texas is on the Gulf of America and location counts. California gets something like 90% of Asian shipping arriving in the US through its ports. Seattle is the only other port of significance on the West Coast. That means all that trade moves through California, even if most of it is going somewhere else.

Texas' location makes it a poor destination for shipping traffic except from South and Central America, hardly the economic powerhouses Asia and Europe are.
