Anyone else sick of breast cancer awareness month?

Damn straight I congratulate myself everyday for having survived, loss of my breast, six operations, cellulitis, mouth sores, dry skin, hair loss, nausea, bone ache that would make Superman cry, and insomnia.

Cancer is not for the weak, my heart goes out to those that go through all this and still don't make it.
I am so sorry Froggy, but you fought back and beat the big "C". Now is the time to declare War, not on Arabia, but on Cancer. I will be writing a letter to President Obama soon, emphasizing that a Cancer cure would not only help every family in the World, but secure his Presidency as one dedicated to helping everyone equally, rich and poor, Conservative and Liberal. I have stated in the past that I like President Obama as a person, especially since he plays my game of golf, but if he does "Declare A War On Cancer", I will be his biggest admirer and declare him as our greatest President, bar none.

Are you really this uninformed? You are speaking for a place of complete ignorance. As Rana illustrates, we have cures for cancer. There are cancers that are highly treatable. There is surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Sometimes just one is used as mono therapy, other times all three are used. It just depends.

There are two critical factors to successfully treating cancer. The first is being able to identify it early (Stage 1 or 2). When it gets to stage 4 it is pretty much a death sentence. Some cancers are much easier to identify early such as breast cancer. Others like lung and pancreatic are not only difficult to identify early, they are also very aggressive and difficult to treat.

The other important factor is the underlying health of the patient. A young patient with cancer has a much better chance overall than someone in their 60s because they are more likely able to tolerate the aggressive treatment options.

I am sure that you think your heart is in the right place, but you are completely ignorant about what you are talking about. More people will die because of your ignorance.

It's an easy way to feel superior

has nothing to do with 'feeling' superior. It is recognizing that it is food that is not good for you, in the least. Even McDonalds recognized how shitty their food was for people, which is why they made an attempt to offer salads and such.

That said Darla, I do recognize that you feel McDonalds and such is the only pleasure a poor person can have. I simply disagree with your absurd position.

when I said self congratulatory I wasn't referring to survivors but all those that wear a pink wrist band or whatever to give themselves a 24 hour pat on the back. sorry i'm a cynic.

The Government would compensate all of them. I just want to take the "Greed" factor out of this. If a family was stranded on the freeway, would you try to help them without charging them a fee? The reason that the private sector has not really succeeded is because they want to keep everything secret, so that if they find a real cure, they will hit the "jackpot", I say shuck that, we need a cure and we need a cure now. The cure for cancer supersedes anything else that I can think of. PS, I am still a Conservative, but I do see some Liberal views as reasonable like women's choice with certain criteria about late term abortions, but gun grabbing not being one of them. Conservatism with a heart is the way to go, it would be God's way.
I forgot to add this truthism on getting Cancer....There but for the grace of God, go I.....

Most of the people who do that wear it in honor of someone they lost, or nearly lost.
