Anyone else sick of breast cancer awareness month?

Really. Were you not aware?

Who isn't aware?

I am aware of breast cancer. I am also aware that women routinely skip having their mammograms.

I am aware of breast cancer. I am also aware that women routinely forget to do their monthly self exams.

I am also aware that women have been identified by their breasts so much that some choose to die rather than havea mastectomy.

I am also aware that the treatments wreck their bodies and can be some of the worst medical treatments around.

I have also attended the funerals of 3 different women who lost their battle with breast cancer.

So no, I am not tired of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The awareness and the programs attached to it (often funded by sell various pink things) saved the life of the woman I love.

Hang in there. Maybe someone will start an Asshole Awareness Month and you won't have to try so hard.

Sure puddin pop. Look what I have reduced you to.

I fucking love you bitch

Yes, we all know what you love, all day long.

Man you and Steelplate are really trying to fill the Howey faggot void aren't you? It is hilarious how the ones who claim to be the most tolerant about queers always run to that as their first insult as if being a queer is the worst thing a person could be.

I love the irony. Don't forget to get your mammogram. I am sure your man boobs will fit.

Based on your post maybe we should change the name from Breast Cancer Awareness Month to Do What You Know You Are Supposed To Do You Dumb Bitch Month. Nah. Too long.

I am truly glad your significant other or partner or whatever politically correct term we use today beat breast cancer. I have lost loved ones to the disease as well.

Thinking the whole month has gotten ridiculous doesn't mean one doesn't care. Hell as Damo pointed out, I know many women who think it is overkill.

But hey we live in a politically correct society and women weren't able to vote many years ago soooooooooo.

I'm not sure Damo meant that the way you think he did.

Maybe. He could have been sarcastic. But I do know lots of women that think it is over the top.

My point being that there is plenty if awareness and research about breast cancer. Now of course you don't like the messenger, you knee jerk to to liking the message. That's OK. I don't give a fuck

To the bolded above, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer while in her late 70's. The doctor was going over her options and almost before he could finish she said, "cut it off." He noted that she said that pretty quickly and there was time for her to think about it if she needed. She said, "What's there to think about? I'm in my 70's, I've raised my kids and don't plan to have any more. Cut it off and use it for fish bait for all I care." He did...cut it off that is. Don't know about the rest. ;) She passed away at 97...not from breast cancer.

I'm not tired of the breast cancer awareness campaign, I just wonder why we don't have prostate cancer awareness campaigns. It's strange to me how such a prevalent issue has no similar efforts to inform the potential victims.

I guess men aren't worth the effort?

Start one? The breast cancer awareness stuff started out as a grassroots movement.

As WB said, women started the movement for breast cancer awareness; it wasn't handed to them. Men could - and probably should - join together to support and highlight prostate cancer. You'll have women joining and helping, I'm sure, but men should lead the effort.

some good numbers here - prostate is 2nd in funding in terms of number of deaths, but not in terms of number of cases

Tinfoil, start a movement. Print up a bunch of magnetic signs and decals of brown fingers or maybe just a gloved hand with one finger extended.
