You are untested in real life. You may think and imagine you have a vast reservoir of tenacity, heroism, fortitude. But it's never been tested under fire against an invader who completely outguns you.
You've made lots of veiled threats from the safety of a keyboard, but you've never followed through. That is kind of a clue right there.
The Ukrainians are field tested. They have proven their tenacity by hunkering down in the rubble of destroyed cities, and holding out against legions of a superior armed and equipped enemy invader.

That's a good idea. I was simply of the view that working hard and getting good grades in order to qualify for high standards to get into higher education would be enough, but I would gladly support a program where some sort of work or later monetary payback would be required.
The bottom line is our nation would be better off for having people well trained and qualified to work at better-paying jobs.
Letting everyone fend for themselves in an increasingly challenging world results in a lot of young immature people who make poor choices early on in life, which set them on a trajectory of despair, disgruntlement and despondency about our monetary power structure. All it takes is to foolishly begin making babies before achieving a good career to support them and then the reality of heavy responsibilities precludes any ambition to excel. Then people get locked into a life of inability to climb the ladder of success without a good education.
Then they are prime candidates for talk pundits who tell them who to hate, resent and blame when really, it's our system. Unsuccessful people listening to a bunch of hateful nonsense leaves them distrusting our government and not believing in America.
Let's change the system to produce more success and less oppression. America would benefit from having more people believe in our system.

Perhaps the solution to why Americans have reduced faith in America actually lies in fighting corruption.
