I've been looking for a 77/22 .22LR. I want the laminated stock and long heavy barrel. They are pretty rare and hard to find. I do have a Rem. Target Master .22 and an assortment of bigger toys.

There's a shallow cave with a nearby spring where I hunted deer since I was 12. I know where I'm headed.

I reckon they're "medium" game, but I could take deer all day long with a .22 with headshots.

They don't eat like chickens..like I shot with a 30-.06

Chickens peck a mile a minute, I had to shoot it in the neck (pivot point)

Deer put their head down to eat and leave it down.

Very easy targets with a lot of meat.

I have not taken shots at deer many times I could have.

IDK if you can even do it like that now. I go for the young n tender.

The stupid ones aren't good shots. They wound them and the deer go off and die.

Farmers take them as needed for crop damage. My uncle had a gun rack on his
farm tractor, and some nice rack mounts in the pool table room.

They ain't me. I could take deer all day in the daytime with a .22 with no problems.

In fact, I'd find that preferable over other methods except for maybe shooting them in the head with a larger caliber weapon. Or other non-conventional methods.

It's not that easy to arrow a deer through the head, but it can be done.

Range is the factor for any weapon. Knowing your own capabilities is key.
 
I'd trust my .22 over a bow..my bow even at taking a deer any day.


My .22 works. It's a Marlin Model 60. I can hit rabbits at a full run in the head with it 75% of the time.

The bullets go where you aim (or lead)

It's my most accurate rifle by far. Ever,

Plonking a deer in the right place in the head with it would be cake.

A Savage Model 110 is my next most accurate rifle. I like accuracy.

Marlin Model 60 is the best in the accuracy scheme of things.

That Savage is nice, it can almost do it like the Marlin, but not quite.

I'm holding my fingers up like 1/4 inch. :laugh:

Is that the Remington with the pretty plastic stock? Fancy Monte Carlo stuff? I remember those. Looked better than my tiger-striped squirrel Model 60.

10 round magazine.

Oh no, it's a Ruger. Meh.

Over $1k for a bolt .22 :eek:

Mine's got a light, stainless steel barrel and plastic stock, a survival tool.
