So Americans will nevermore be able to pay for their housing with 1 week or less's worth of work? Sad.
Like they were for the entire time up until at least the mid 1990s.
The American Dream is fucked and "Deal with it", is that what you say?
How is it fair that everyone in America always had that up until around the 2000s in America and future generations get fucked? I don't think it is. MAGA!
America was and should be the land of opportunity if you're willing to work.
Here a song to illustrate my point:
50 cents rooms to let..in..
1964
"The minimum wage in 1964 was $1.15"
https://www.reference.com/history/much-did-everyday-items-cost-1964-cfba9fcd6734ea4f
So $2.30 (minimum wage for pushing broom for 2 hrs) and 50 cents is the housing cost. Less than 25% of income.
Only for 2 hours work. Now if someone was to work 8 hours, the cost of housing wasn't jack shit.
Things went sideways with the LBJ free housing and food program, too. (1961)
Before that, either you worked and made it in America or didn't.
People are slaves to the government now. It's bad.
