No, if you have a right to life, then you have a right to defend that life, thus you have a right to the best tools to defend that life. Limiting your access to those tools, firearms, is denying you your right to life, not protecting you.

School shootings were unheard of up until Columbine. Then they didn't happen for a good while again. They refused to reinstate gun laws, and now school shootings are dime a dozen. I'm literally barely effected by them. I hear there's a school shooting and just shrug. Well who would have thought?

Actually, school shootings were unheard of until we got increasingly strict gun laws. Then we got the Gun Free School Zones Act and school shootings really took off. What do you mean "reinstate"?

As much as I think shooting pineapples is irresponsible, it does not affect *my* right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Education, such as universal gun safety education, would indeed be the best policy. But that would undermine the ignorance that the control freaks depend upon to drive fear and paranoia about guns.
