Scott Walker Legalizes Rape

so this is an invasive procedure, but tearing a baby from the womb isn't. How about delivering a baby except for the head, jamming a vacuum in the back of the skull, and the sucking out the brain, and then dismembering the rest of the baby, wow that doesn't sound invasive at all. You people probably all belong to PETA too don't you, you disgust me. Your sickness is in full effect.

Huh?

Attempting to say "rooted in reality" as an excuse for the conscious decision to kill when there are other options that can bring the same result is one of the weakest arguments I have ever heard against it.

"rooted in reality" because that brave new world you see with artificial wombs, where a fetus can be extracted from a woman, brought to term and given to a loving family DOESN'T EXIST.

And don't forget all those leftover embryos from IVF procedures.

YOU are living in a fantasy world. The rest of us know the choices, once pregnant, are a) hoping for a miscarriage b) abortion c) carrying the baby to term and keeping it and d) carrying the baby to term and giving it away for adoption.

That's reality.

And the "getting pregnant" part happens for a lot of reasons; rape, birth control failure, the woman at the time thought she was in a committed relationship, etc etc etc. Reasons for the abortion are myriad; and none of your business.

When YOU have a womb, you can offer to carry a woman's baby to term for her - if you can figure a way to extract the fetus. There isn't one. This is all fantasy BS in your head.

Again, simple justifications. There are better options for us than attempting to simplify it to "kill or incubate", adding emotive "hope for a miscarriage". There are better ways to argue against it than saying, "The technology isn't there"... especially when I recognized that fact when I said "attempt to save them". Over time we would learn, and in time give women a true choice, natural birth or ex-utero.

This isn't "Brave New World" that was fiction. It is simply something I believe will happen in the future, if we went my way we'd have it earlier, if we go your way we simply have entries in our history books of our barbaric false choices we forced on ourselves because we wouldn't take steps to change them. The left/right arguments, IMO, are both arguments that justify either killing or the use of government force to impress an action on an unwilling host. Women should never be forced to be an incubator for an unwanted pregnancy, nor should we force ourselves into the false choice that the only other option is to purposefully kill.

Either way the action would be the same for you at this time, with much the same result. It is only over time that we'll learn to be able to save these people.

I also believe that over time we'll get far better at birth control so the action will be taken by choice, and not because of accidental (or forced in the case of rape) pregnancy.

So in short:

I believe that in time we'll have this option, even if you think that working towards it now is some sort of "fantasy". I also believe that in time we'll see far better options for birth control that will allow this to be a choice when you choose to become a parent rather than when you become pregnant for whatever reason when you did not want to be pregnant. I also believe that we could get there much more quickly if we actually worked towards it rather than rejected in some offhand way and pretended that the false dichotomy was our only option.

We have better options, and IMO, more moral ones. When it comes down to it, it really does depend on what kind of society you want to be part of...

Back in the day there were people who argued that Native Americans should be treated with respect, they were scoffed at...

I wonder how often somebody scoffed at people who believed that slavery was an abomination that would go down in history as one of this nation's darkest deeds and told them they were living in a "fantasy"...

So...I'll just get right to the point.....until that day comes when science has conception....well.....down to a science.... Do we allow women reasonable access to ending unwanted pregnancies, or do we force them to carry that pregnancy to term and be stuck with a child that they are unwilling to or incapable of taking care of?

You know you're a terrible person, right?

No, I'm a much better person than you actually. It's going to take a lot of very strong women who don't wilt under male disapproval to make sure you women-controlling facists don't institute state-enforced rape across the board, or force women to have a baby every time they have sex. (the "good old days) I am only one of them. I'm sure you're not familar with the type. None of them would have ever talked to you. You won't get past us.

Go get your gf to soothe your feelings, you facist dweeb.

Well said!

God he's so full of shit.

I am astounded by this thread. I am astounded to live in a country where men take power and then institute laws like this. How is it that right on this very board, we can have a man instructing us what a transvaginal ultrasound is like? Because he" watched them use it on his wife"? And then starts talking about his colon. Has anyone ever seen a more egregious example of male supremacy? This is actually sick.

Several years ago, because of a false positive on a particular test, I underwent several transvaginal ultrasounds. I can tell YOU what they are like, I do not need a man to tell me. Do you have a fucking vagina? I mean, this is outrageous. I can't get over it.

They are extremely unpleasant and difficult to get through. And that is when they are consensual and medically necessary. As a woman who has had them, (most importantly; AS A WOMAN), yes I can imagine what it might be like if I were pregnant and seeking an abortion and forced to have it to shame and punish me. I don't know how anything can be more like rape. I believe it will trigger some women into flashbacks. It is meant to shame and punish, and all you have to do is read the statements of the men who are passing these laws, their open, public statements, which come down to; well she let a penis in, we're allowed in too. Guess what? That is the excuse used for rape too! She consented to one man, she's not a virgin, who are we kidding? Once a woman consents to sex with one man, she has consented to all men. I mean, that's textbook.

You men who think this way and who are supporting these laws (and that also includes making excuses for them while clamining not to suppor them), writing these laws, and passing these laws, need to see doctors, but not for ultrasounds, for mri's. If you don't have a brain tumor, you need to be drummed out of decent society. You are unacceptable.

You are simply unacceptable.

Here is a very beautiful, hopeful, and informative first person account of a young woman who was duped by radical facists like 3D and Superfreak: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfeminism/2012/10/how-i-lost-faith-in-the-pro-life-movement.html

It's important to read for those who actually are ignorant of the facts. But for others like me, who are not ignorant of those facts, it's a wonderful read anyway. I would never want to lose my patience with an honest young woman, or young man I suppose, who was brainwashed into these beliefs, but really do have a woman's best interests at heart, and are intelligent, independent, and inquisitive enough to seek out the truth. It's important to me to be open to those very young people who are sincere and not to judge them. I was not brought up by controlling lunatics and cannot know what nonsense I might believe if I had been.

Being young, innocent, sincere, and truly wanting to help not control or harm women, does not describe any of you radical facists on this board. It's important in life though. A very nice thing for me to read and to remember. She taught me something.

Damn, you guys really do have better weed in Colorado.

Nice job supporting state sponsered rape in the meantime.

Again, I was reminiscing, not promoting an opinion. I even noted that it really had nothing to do with the thread. I think both sides of this particular argument are vulgar, and in a better future will be seen as the barbaric choice of the early 21st century, and present a different opinion as to what we should do as a society. There really is more than one option, and better ones than the false choice of "be an incubator or kill".
Nice Damo...you tell us you're not promoting an opinion and no sooner write that than you promote an opinion.

Well I'm promoting an opinion too. State sanctioned rape is wrong. It violates a womans privacy rights and it violates her physical person and it violates her relationship ship with her phsycian and it violates the physicians hypocratic oath.

These horrible right wing paternalistic laws also set terrible precedents where regulating birth control is concerned too.

As for as I'm concerned it's polically stupid too. If Republicans keep attacking womens rights like this they are well on their way to becoming a permanent minority.

You know something, you're right, those scifi posts really do read like someone totally stoned out of their mind wrote them. Read that way, they are actually funny. I should have smoked a joint before I read them. I might have laughed.

This post deserves an extra thanks.

WTF is wrong with these RWA assholes?
