A quick search of recent mass shootings shows that in several instances, the armed guard/officer who tried to engage the shooter was himself shot, and some were killed.

The gun freaks are much more interested in increasing the carnage by putting more guns in the hands of the untrained, than they are keeping them out of the hands of the insane.

Again, suggesting that the solution is to stand there defenseless and get shot.

Here's another anecdote. Long ago my wife broke down late one night and some guy pulled over and started hassling her demanding she roll down her window. She pointed a pistol at his face and he drove away. Glad she had that little 22.

This kind of thing happens quite a lot. Never makes the news much. No shot was fired. None had to be. It probably only resulted in the guy needing to change his pants afterwards.

All of them except the three who died from the GUNSHOT WOUNDS they received while minding their own business having dinner in the food court after some fucked up kid got ahold of a firearm and went on YET ANOTHER shooting rampage.

And what they were REALLY lucky about was that the shooter pointed his gun at someone else besides them.

They DIDN'T die because our hero intervened with HIS firearm.

I have a friend that got involved in an issue over parking and a guy got out of his truck with an expandable police baton and threatened to bash his head in. My friend pulled his Sig Sauer out and just showed it to the attacker. The guy screamed "You didn't have to pull a gun." and quickly got back in his truck and drove off.

Another case of warding off an attack by simply drawing the gun. Firing it wasn't even necessary.

In terms of practicality, they could not totally prevent all deaths.

Even if a teacher or multiple teachers took out a shooter, there would still be DEAD CHILDREN by the time they were able to.
