WOW!!!Christian thread

It was a Christian Marriage. I was just being a jerk. We were married in her parents' Methodist church. We let them plan the wedding, we focused on our relationship with the Buddhist temple we attend. It was a wonderful party.

Sounds like a no-stress way of working out what can sometimes be a stressfull family situation. We simply left religen out of the equasion, we wrote our vows together based on what we felt was the right promises to make to eachother. We had her brother serve as officiant and simply got legally married a couple weeks earlier at the Courthouse. We had the ceramony at the CountryClub thats across the golfcorse from our backyard. Now we can see the site from our bedroom window.

My first marriage was the typical church wedding and reception. The planning, the guests, etc. etc. That ended in divorce.

When I decided to marry a second time I knew it was vital to concentrate on what's important. We had a civil ceremony in a hotel room (Niagara Falls) with two witnesses only. Immediately after the vows were exchanged and the necessary documents signed I politely requested those present excuse us so we could get on with consummating the marriage. :)

So you did not go the traditional rout....

I was married in a Methodist church too. In fact, it was the church I grew up in. No mention of "obey" or "submit" in our ceremony either. And it was decades ago.
