The data shows that many urbanites are belatedly bailing on big shitty cities.
A research firm called MyMove analyzed migration patterns since the start of the Wu Flu pandemic panic.
They analyzed the number of change-of-address notices filed with the United States Postal Service.
They found that Blue urban shitholes are hemorrhaging residents.
Naturally, larger cities would always tend to have large people migrating away, so, to correct for that bias, they compared this year’s change-of-address notices to last year’s.
Here's what they found:
- Chicago’s change-of-address filings more than doubled over last year’s for the period from February 1st to August 1st
- New York City - up 490%;
- San Francisco - up 180%;
- Los Angeles - up 96%;
- Washington D.C. - up 160%;
- Houston - up 60%;
- Philadelphia - up 60%.

As the real estate market began to recover in May, home searches in suburban zip codes jumped 13%, according to realtor.com, one of the largest real estate listing websites. That's more than double the pace of growth in urban areas.
“This migration is not a new trend, but it has become more pronounced this spring,” said Javier Vivas, realtor.com director of economic research.
Contracts on Manhattan apartments plunged 80% annually in May, according to Jonathan Miller of real estate appraisal firm Miller Samuel.
“There’s no question that there are people who are fleeing the cities. There’s no question that the second home has been a place of refuge. There’s no question people are rethinking whether they want to be in high rise rentals with common spaces as amenities vs. having a home of their own with a backyard,” said Stuart Miller, chairman and former CEO of Miami-based Lennar.

I'll take the whole raft of experts and pros in the automotive world who have actually tested Musk's products in the real world over his often inflated marketing claims aimed at bringing in more investors. I guess you want to drink Musk's Kool-Aid however...

Norfolk County, outside of Boston, saw a 38% increase in new contracts for single-family homes in July over last year.
Collin County, Texas, outside of Dallas, saw a 58% increase.
San Bernardino County, outside of Los Angeles, saw a 62% jump and Marin County, outside of San Francisco, saw a 77% increase over last year.
Both San Francisco and New York saw 80% more people leave than move in during the months of March and June, according to a report from HireAHelper, an online marketplace for moving services.
The top destination by the number of overall people moving in was Florida, it found.
In the suburbs outside New York City, like the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, the demand to buy a home is so intense that traffic jams form around hot properties and altercations erupt among agents angling to get their clients in to see the homes.
