So far retirement is the highlight of my life. I can still take classes and learn without worrying about grades. And I have a lot more money.

So the argument you and your boyfriend are advancing here, is that on a thread someone started about college no one should write anything about their college experience.

A lot of the things they teach you in college are not about the things they teach you, but are more about learning how to learn. Maybe medieval French poetry will never be useful, but the ability to learn how to read medieval French poetry is very useful.
