People being people, no doubt there's some of that. I'm sure there are English lit majors or psych majors who look at engineers or computer science majors as booooring.
Mr. Owl's first degree was in engineering. They required very little in the way of so-called liberal arts in his curriculum. However, he's taken art and music appreciation courses on his own. He enjoys music, the symphony, museums including art museums. It makes for a more well-rounded, enriched life, in our opinion.
That's how it should be. A degree in say, art history, has very little, if any applicability in terms of a job. For example, there used to be two detectives in the LAPD who specialized in art fraud. The lead guy was initially self-taught but eventually got degrees in things like art history and art, becoming a world-renowned art fraud expert. But there aren't many jobs calling for someone with that expertise.
Pay the bills first, hobbies come second.
