Why is Rick Perry in the lead?

i love the left wing hacks who run around blaming only bush, claiming he lead into this crisis, high unemployment, weak housing.....but 2.5 years later obama hasn't lead us into anything. unemployment has been higher under obama the entire time he has been office, but he is not responsible for anything of that. weak housing, as i've said before, the president does not have much power here.

thanks for the laughs

were there hearings held in the House about the problem and were Republicans called racists for bringing it up?.....

I don't remember the "racist" part, but again, I keep forgetting how much more powerful the almighty Barney Frank was than the President of the United States....

Bush created Iraq, and the economy crashed on his watch.

Ergo, he CREATED the problems. Obama is trying to fix them.

Get it? Probably not.

BULLSHIT. Iraq is not what led us into the financial crisis. The continued idiocy of proclaiming that is tiring. Bush did not CREATE the problems. They existed long before he was in office, before his DAD was in office.

Obama is trying to fix them.

ROFLMAO.... Obama has done NOTHING to fix the problems. He is an inept 'leader'. Did he put Glass Steagall back in place? Did he get the SEC to put the uptick rule back in place? WHAT has he done to try and fix it? Tossing money around in an inept manner is not 'trying to fix' anything.

Get it? Probably not.

Yes, we get it... you are an Obama apologist.

Yes, we get it... you are an Obama apologist.

Iraq cost trillions, and completely diverted Bush's attention. Do you deny either of those claims? As I stated before, he was an absentee President. He had no economic policy, and was fully focused on Iraq...this country would be MUCH different place today if not for that conflict. You can't act like it had no bearing on anything else. It affected EVERYTHING else.

And I do blame him for being an absentee President. The warning signs were there for a leader - which you guys keep claiming he was - to take action. Cue: but Barney Frank wouldn't let him do anything! He was so powerful!

Obama has improved things, like it or not. Would you rather be losing 400,000 jobs a month, or gaining 100,000? Would you rather have an economy in recession, or one that's growing?

Case closed. You have no argument.

unemployment was 7.8% when bush left office....2.5 years later it is still over 9%

yep, all bush's fault, obama is not responsible for anything, neither are the dems. i mean, control of the WH and congress for two years still isn't enough to overcome one POWERFUL man, that man is

I love the argument that Obama should have pursued policies that kept housing prices at bubble levels coming from a guy that hates government intervention in market. It's awesome.

Iraq cost trillions, and completely diverted Bush's attention.

Yes. Both.

Show me your data on Iraq costing us trillions. Again, as I stated to Mott.... keep in mind where the money went. Did we send those 'trillions' to another country? Or was that money spent here? Say in a similar manner to taking $800b and pumping a large chunk to unions? Except Bush pumped it to the defense sector rather than the unions. But still... show us where Iraq cost Trillions (multiple)

Then take a look at the economy from 2003-2007.... full employment, rising GDP, rising revenues etc.... Bush was no economic guru, he fucked up with his spending, especially once the Dems took over. But to say he ignored the economy is an extreme exaggeration.

AS I stated before, Bush was certainly not a fiscally sound President. But HE had a budget, HE did have an economic policy in place that helped grow the economy from the recession he inherited.

The above is unbelievably comical given that it is the DEMS, regardless of how much power they have that proclaim the Reps always stop them. You are also over exaggerating the 'everyone knew it was going to blow up'. They didn't. Period.

Obama has improved things, like it or not. Would you rather be losing 400,000 jobs a month, or gaining 100,000? Would you rather have an economy in recession, or one that's growing?

No, he has not improved things.... as I stated before and you ignored.....

1) Unemployment is worse
2) The financial system is in the same mess it was
3) The repaid TARP money has disappeared
4) Glass Steagall is not back in place, which means the exact same problem can once again occur
5) The 'too big to fail banks' got bigger
6) Gitmo still open
7) Expanded war in Afghanistan
8) health care costs still rising dramatically, with the health care bill likely to add to those rising costs
9) NO economic plan
10) NO budget in his entire time in office

Case closed. You have no argument.

Odd given the FACT that you continue to ignore all the problems that have ESCALATED since Obama took office. It would appear it is YOU that has no case.

How many jobs was America losing, on average, every month in the period immediately after Bush left office?

The economic illiteracy of some of you apologists is staggering. Simply staggering.

Freak, that top 10 list you have is so bogus. Let's just start w/ the 1st one.

Do you think there is any policy that could have been implemented on inauguration day in 2009 that would have prevented massive job loss in the ensuing 4-5 months?

I'm all ears.

The only apologist here is YOU.

Saying that because job LOSSES slowed and shifted to anemic growth somehow equates to a good economics shows exactly who has problems understand economics.

again... What was the unemployment rate in the period immediately after Bush left office.... what is it now? What was our national debt then vs. now? While we got a dead cat bounce, what direction are we heading NOW?

before the housing bubble burst and the economy was doing well....who gets the credit for that? clinton?

Bush gets "credit" for that, but given that it was an illusion of an economy doing well I don't know that "credit" is the word I'd use.

I didn't say it was a "good economy." I said it was BETTER than what it was, and it is. And you're economically illiterate if you think there was any policy that would have stopped the massive job loss in the 1st half of '09...there simply isn't. Once there was a crash & ensuing panic, those jobs were doomed. Ergo, OF COURSE the unemployment rate rose from when Obama "first took office." That's such an inane argument - the kind I expect from Yurt, but not you....

Assuming I had the complete control of Congress as he did? Absolutely there were things he could have done to prevent some of the losses. In the first few months, maybe not, but certainly by the time the fourth rolled around. The market was already rebounding... the economy needed a LEADER.... we had none, instead we had Obama/Pelosi/Reid trying to cram health care 'reform' down our throats. The economy responded by continuing to lose jobs.... peaking at 10.1% and then remaining above 9% since.

I also note that you want to compare most things from when Obama took office, but want to compare the unemployment rate 4-5 months AFTER he took office.

LMAO... that is just it... we are NOT better off.

The point Oncelor is that the unemployment rate IS STILL ABOVE 9%. No matter how many times you stomp your feet and apologize for Obama.... he is NOT making things better.

Tell me Oncelor.... WHAT is it that can STOP a PANIC? Could it be........... LEADERSHIP?

Tell us.... list for us.... WHAT did Obama do that made people believe the economy was going to get better? What policies did he enact that have HELPED employment since that stop gap stimulus plan? WHAT did Obama do since then? He immediately 'pivoted' to cramming an unwanted health care reform down our throats rather than focus on the economy.

I know you have to apologize for him, because he is your messiah and you have be so commanded. But do try to pull your head out of his ass long enough to realize how bad things are right now.
