Iraq cost trillions, and completely diverted Bush's attention.
Yes. Both.
Show me your data on Iraq costing us trillions. Again, as I stated to Mott.... keep in mind where the money went. Did we send those 'trillions' to another country? Or was that money spent here? Say in a similar manner to taking $800b and pumping a large chunk to unions? Except Bush pumped it to the defense sector rather than the unions. But still... show us where Iraq cost Trillions (multiple)
Then take a look at the economy from 2003-2007.... full employment, rising GDP, rising revenues etc.... Bush was no economic guru, he fucked up with his spending, especially once the Dems took over. But to say he ignored the economy is an extreme exaggeration.
Do you deny either of those claims? As I stated before, he was an absentee President. He had no economic policy, and was fully focused on Iraq...this country would be MUCH different place today if not for that conflict. You can't act like it had no bearing on anything else. It affected EVERYTHING else.
AS I stated before, Bush was certainly not a fiscally sound President. But HE had a budget, HE did have an economic policy in place that helped grow the economy from the recession he inherited.
And I do blame him for being an absentee President. The warning signs were there for a leader - which you guys keep claiming he was - to take action. Cue: but Barney Frank wouldn't let him do anything! He was so powerful!
The above is unbelievably comical given that it is the DEMS, regardless of how much power they have that proclaim the Reps always stop them. You are also over exaggerating the 'everyone knew it was going to blow up'. They didn't. Period.
Obama has improved things, like it or not. Would you rather be losing 400,000 jobs a month, or gaining 100,000? Would you rather have an economy in recession, or one that's growing?
No, he has not improved things.... as I stated before and you ignored.....
1) Unemployment is worse
2) The financial system is in the same mess it was
3) The repaid TARP money has disappeared
4) Glass Steagall is not back in place, which means the exact same problem can once again occur
5) The 'too big to fail banks' got bigger
6) Gitmo still open
7) Expanded war in Afghanistan
8) health care costs still rising dramatically, with the health care bill likely to add to those rising costs
9) NO economic plan
10) NO budget in his entire time in office
Case closed. You have no argument.
Odd given the FACT that you continue to ignore all the problems that have ESCALATED since Obama took office. It would appear it is YOU that has no case.
