There has been a movement to legalize weed (NORMAL) since I can remember
I just mentioned the 60's were the beginning of the end of strict sex or race based roles.
The Civil Rights Act of' 64 PROFOUNDLY changed housing to integrated neighborhoods.
It wasn't easy - but the law was clear and eventually redlining and block busting were halted,
even if "white flight" was not...which begat "gentrification" etc.
I grew up close to Morgan State University (NE Baltimore)-which was a small back college back then
and now a montrously big university. Black professional class took over my mostly white neighborhood of the early 60's and by the early 70's was fully integrated, and headed toward majority minority.
No riots either..so that happened quickly
White flight was the Hallmark of the 1960s. That was the peak of white people fleeing to the suburbs to flee the "darkies". In general, when you think about the mid to late 60s, whites couldn't get away fast enough from blacks.
I seriously doubt the 1960s are actually remembered as an era of harmonious urban integration of the races.
The return to the core urban areas of the inner city by white urban hipsters didn't really get a foothold until the 1990s. Though that created a whole new problem associated with gentrification.
It took 40 years after the 1960s to legalize marijuana. And that was mostly thanks to Gen X and millennials, not 60s boomers.
60s boomers played a marginal role at best, in legalization of same sex marriage equality.
The real radical change was enacted by people who knew how to work in the system. Hitchhiking to Woodstock and and experimenting with LSD were not really going to accomplish that much.
We can thank the black community for advances in civil rights. White college kids in the 60s were not the tip of the spear in that regard either.
