As for senators, those used to be elected by the state they represented through state governors and legislatures. The intent of that was that the senators would represent the State they were from. The Representatives elected to the House from that state represented the People of that state. With direct election of Senators, that distinction went out the window and both are now elected by the people. That is a dilution of separation of power and the states lost having representation in Congress.

Of course, such distinctions elude the retards on the radical Left who think that simple mob rule should be the order of the day...
