walmart raising minimum wage to 11$ per hour

The boss is in charge. I have choices. Stay and like it, stay and hate it, take a 2nd job, leave. The key in life is be at peace with yourself in whatever situation you find yourself in. And, not to give others any responsibility, obligation or power over my life to make me miserable or happy. :)

I think I'd be a bit peeved!

Walmart also snuck in later in the day a surprise closure of over 60 Sam's Club stores.
They didn't necessarily 'sneak' it in. The White House just chose to ignore it.

That, and the pay hikes started in '15. trump huddled with Walmart execs, and they crafted the nonsense talking point about tax cuts.

Please get a grip. I'm fully aware of how the gubment defines a living wage. The discussion is about people who deal with it, make the best of it, live within their means and get along on less than $20k/yr.

Whyyyyyyyy are you even arguing and making a fuss? If you make more and have a "better" lifestyle, then enjoy yourself and keep doing what you're doing. I don't begrudge ANYone a life filled with "finer" things.
For those of us able to make it on $15k/yr. leave us alone and quit badgering us. A lot us have actually CHOSEN to not ever dine out or get take-out, or buy more than one good pair of shoes per year, buy extra jewelry, purses, handbags, bother with hair salons, go to movies or take vacations. We live happily within our means, living peacefully with our neighbors and enjoy a simplified life.
Peace.

Then don't lie about the company owned by 4 billionaires whose net worth each increases by a billion dollars a year.

If it were not for Walmart closing 10s of thousands of factories and small retailers you could have a decent job.

Rune, you're spoiled or something. No job ever owed me or you "benefits". I've already spelled out ad nauseam how a person can live decently earning less than $20k/year. I'll not repeat it all simply because you don't understand it.

He is an alcoholic, hence why he needs more money from his fellow citizens

Walmart is also closing 60+ Sam’s Clubs and laying off thousands of workers.
The last two years they have spent billions of dollars in stock buy back to increase stock values.
This to me is a ploy to keep their precious tax cuts!

Not just that, they didn't know it was coming. The nerve to leave both employees and customers to find the doors locked. What the heck is going on?

You should be cheering, you irrational walmart hater. You are beating the enemy! Too bad it causes people to lose jobs... Fuck em, right? Idiots worked for Walmart... what'd they expect

Fuck walmart for providing a service and employing people! Fuck them! If they can't afford to pay their employees a living wage they deserve to be out of business! Every other company manages to do it.

I would want to see your reaction if you came to work and they locked the door on you.

It's a business making business decisions. Some will become e-commerce distribution centers. Some employees would be re-hired at other Walmart locations or at the newly created e-commerce distribution sites.

Who is paying their bills until they are re hired? Who is paying to relocate them?

Since a lot of Sam's club employees apparently had no clue until it hit them, I consider "snuck" is the correct term.

Lol, you work at Walmart? You are taking this very personal. I don’t support any retailer who has billions in profit and doesn’t pay a living wage to their employees.

In placed that doesn't have much else, they are still lining up to get a job, so lets be fair. I have been through places where Walmart and McD are the only employers.

Well...you're talking about Texas. They knew. We didn't, even after the doors were locked. It detracts from the 'tax cuts created this raise' narrative. Of course, WM started the raises in '15, and continued them in '16.

Stretch is all theory no reality

I never theorized a paycheck in my life.
The reality is I don't know or have the responsibility of knowing who is responsible for other people. Neither do you. You talk as if every human being on the face of the earth is never, ever expected to experience periodic times of things not going our way. That's fantasyland. Reality is having, enduring and overcoming unexpected interruptions in a "comfortable" routine. You've had them. I've had them. Maybe they'll run to Kelly Services and grab any kind of temp work that is available to tide them over. I've done that. Maybe their church can help them for a couple weeks till the transfer begins. Maybe their family can help. Maybe small local motels need a maid or a local restaurant could use bussers. If you're not willing to do absolutely anything for a brief period, then you have zero answers or suggestions.

I'm perfectly happy, you are not. Be happy with your riches. To each his own.
