walmart raising minimum wage to 11$ per hour

Lol, you work at Walmart? You are taking this very personal. I don’t support any retailer who has billions in profit and doesn’t pay a living wage to their employees.

Well, they're paying a living wage now. It's a job. Jobs have been going on for centuries.

So what? Some work full time, some work part time. What's to moan about if they get some kind of income, food stamps and State-provided healthcare plus keep their babies? If part-time isn't enough for them at Wallyworld, then they can go grab another part time job, too.
Right, and get no benefits.

Fuck off, stupid bitch.

BULLSHIT!

A full time week at Walmart is 34 hours.

I don't know what crawled up your ass but you are full of shit today.

Plus you are a total anti-patriot to defend Walmart in any way.

I get it though. You are poor.

Your perspective is irrational. Unless you criticize every big business with similar employee pools, you are also a fucking hypocrite

Rune, you're spoiled or something. No job ever owed me or you "benefits". I've already spelled out ad nauseam how a person can live decently earning less than $20k/year. I'll not repeat it all simply because you don't understand it.

The government doesn't tell them how many hours to give employees, fuckhead.

By making the rules so that an employee working more than 34 hours would have to compensated with health care, they did in fact create the situation where 34 hours is the cut off. Not really hard to understand unless you choose to not

It is when one is disciplined and lives within their means.
It isn't because it isn't full time. You may want to look up the definition of living wage.

Whatever it takes to justify abandoning the US and supporting China, bitch.

Good lord, the China hate is outdated. I thought you warmers loved them since they signed your Paris Accord. LOL you guys can't keep everything straight. Plus Russia is the new bogeyman. Jebus H Christ, get with the times, man

You should be cheering, you irrational walmart hater. You are beating the enemy! Too bad it causes people to lose jobs... Fuck em, right? Idiots worked for Walmart... what'd they expect

Fuck walmart for providing a service and employing people! Fuck them! If they can't afford to pay their employees a living wage they deserve to be out of business! Every other company manages to do it.
/sarc

You are not wrong at all here. (On a side note, and this is not personal against Rana because many think this way, they like the stock market going up but dislike the companies that make it rise and what they do).

To me they are making more of an emotional based argument rather than thinking through all the logical steps involved.

Not everyone is at the same point in their working career and not everyone has the same skill set.

And throw in different industries have different margarins on their per employee profit they aren't apples to apples.

Not have we even begun to bring in the role of automation.

It's easy to sit back and say you make a lot of money so pay more. It's a great applause line and people feel good about themselves. But there's more to it than just that

Like I said, whatever it takes to justify your unAmerican behaviour

Many companies pay 40 plus.

Stuff your bizzarro world bullshit up your ass.

Not a bad start. Interesting formula to starve the government, give most to the rich and spread a thin layer on the teaming masses. We bought the scam under Reagan. I wonder if the poor will realize they are being fucked again?

Is there a translation here for us commoners?

Sure, the ones that make enough per employee to afford the healthcare costs. But what about the companies like walmart that employ lots of people, but make relatively small return on each compared to other industries. Retail supermarkets operate on volume and small margins. It's not same as a company that makes large margins on their employee productivity.

TL;DR? Not every business makes the same amount of profit per invested dollar.

Please get a grip. I'm fully aware of how the gubment defines a living wage. The discussion is about people who deal with it, make the best of it, live within their means and get along on less than $20k/yr.

Whyyyyyyyy are you even arguing and making a fuss? If you make more and have a "better" lifestyle, then enjoy yourself and keep doing what you're doing. I don't begrudge ANYone a life filled with "finer" things.
For those of us able to make it on $15k/yr. leave us alone and quit badgering us. A lot us have actually CHOSEN to not ever dine out or get take-out, or buy more than one good pair of shoes per year, buy extra jewelry, purses, handbags, bother with hair salons, go to movies or take vacations. We live happily within our means, living peacefully with our neighbors and enjoy a simplified life.
Peace.
