UPS to cut 20,000 jobs on reduced Amazon deliveries, as US tariffs weigh

That’s not what UPS said.

“UPS employees in Arizona face layoffs as the global shipping company announced plans to reduce its overall workforce by 20,000 positions, citing a "changing trade environment" amid tariff uncertainty.”

It isn't that simple. UPS has been reducing the delivery of packages that they make less money on and Amazon has been increasing the number that Amazon delivers themselves.

UPS to cut its Amazon business by more than 50%. Here’s why.

The credentials ... And the graduation program...are mine......If they aren't take the bet and you are the forum hero.... I would be gone for a year... I'm sure you've already been instructed not to take that bet... Because then it would be vacation time for you...;)

Can you seriously not do without stuff made in China for a while. I know I can. Are you addicted to cheap Chinese slave made things? The whole idea of tariffs is giving the American worker a chance for a level playing field. I think we OWE the American worker that chance.
The point is, we shouldn't have to do without products from China for any amount of time. Previous administrations have increased tariffs on China without the stupidity of causing a trade war. This isn't a question of just paying more. There are not only many consumer products that aren't made by any US company, but there are also manufacturing items that aren't made in the US. My buddy owns a company that manufactures and packages bottled liquids like soaps, lotions, etc. All of the ingredients he uses, for some of his customers, come from China. All of the bottles that are approved by his customers and used for packaging come from China. Many of those ingredients and bottles are literally not produced in the US.

Previous administrations have lost American manufacturing to China. When I was a kid a man could support a family and buy a home on a manufacturing job. Trump is trying to return those jobs.

What Trump is trying to do is irrelevant to the reality of what he has done to trade with China and how it's going to impact the country if he doesn't fix the mess he's made.

Also, those 90's and earlier manufacturing jobs aren't coming back. Sure, some a couple companies may end up building a plant in the US, but the days of manufacturing jobs supporting the middle class are gone. Those repetitive jobs are being done by machines/robots.

Bullshit. Those jobs will go to automation.

The US used to have among the highest standards of living in the world...at least until Republicans started stacking the deck for the rich and Trump took a chainsaw to the economy. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Only fucking morons believe the fantasy Trump is drawing for them.
