That’s not what UPS said.

“UPS employees in Arizona face layoffs as the global shipping company announced plans to reduce its overall workforce by 20,000 positions, citing a "changing trade environment" amid tariff uncertainty.”

Management always blames other stuff for their crappy service and arrogant management.

UPS said in Jan before the tariffs

UPS announced that it had reached an in-principle agreement with its largest customer, Amazon, to cut transported order volumes "by more than 50 percent by the second half of 2026."

UPS CEO Carol Tomé said: "We are making business and operational changes that, along with the foundational changes we've already made, will put us further down the path to becoming a more profitable, agile and differentiated UPS that is growing in the best parts of the market.

This was all planned before the tariffs...My God u people are IDIOTS

Yep Amazon has taken over the majority of their own delivers. Amazon is decreasing their use of UPS. Trump had nothing to do with that.
They also now have their own fleet of "over the road" trucks. As for local deliveries, there are delivery vans everywhere, both Amazon's and subcontractors.

And it begins…
It began back in 2019 if not sooner.

Amazon’s new area of domination: its own package delivery

There’s a reason your Amazon deliveries are increasingly showing up in an Amazon-branded van: The company’s own delivery network is already monstrous, and growing fast.
The online retail giant announced on Thursday that its Amazon Logistics division was on track to deliver 3.5 billion packages globally in 2019 — which accounts for approximately half of all of its worldwide orders, according to a spokesperson. (For comparison, UPS, which was founded 112 years ago, delivered 5.2 billion packages and documents for all of its customers in 2018.)
In the US alone, Amazon’s delivery network now handles the largest share of its customers’ orders — more than its traditional delivery partners UPS and the United States Postal Service each account for — the spokesperson added. That acknowledgment backs up a recent estimate from Morgan Stanley that Amazon Logistics was delivering 46 percent of all Amazon orders in the US, while a source previously told Recode that the US percentage has already hit 50 percent. A spokesperson declined to comment on that figure.

Half truths, my little Nazi.

The American giant plans to lay off 20,000 employees and close dozens of logistics facilities.

UPS announced plans to cut 20,000 jobs and close 73 logistics facilities in 2025. “This is part of the largest operational realignment in the company’s history,” said Carol Tomé, CEO.

In January 2025, UPS and Amazon agreed that by mid-2026, UPS’s shipping volume for the e-commerce giant would be reduced by more than 50 per cent.
UPS also announced accelerated automation, from sorting and labeling packages to loading and unloading vehicles. As many as 400 facilities are to be partially or fully automated. “This reorganization will also reduce our dependence on human labor,” UPS said.
Amazon is our largest customer, but not the most profitable. Serving this company significantly diluted the domestic margin.

We """""decided to limit cooperation because a large part of Amazon’s logistics service did not bring us benefits and did not fit into our network""""" – explained the UPS CEO.

The company admits that it is feeling the effects of tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration – especially 145 percent tariffs on goods from China – to a limited extent.

Nice backpedal.

United Parcel Service on Tuesday said it would slash 20,000 jobs and shut 73 facilities as part of a planned reduction in deliveries for Amazon.com, and as U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs roil global trade.

A UPS spokesman said the layoffs are due to shedding 50% of shipping volume from Amazon.com, its largest customer, as well as ongoing cost-cutting and efficiency projects under a major operational restructuring.

An Amazon spokesperson said, “Due to their operational needs, UPS requested a reduction in volume and we certainly respect their decision."

UPS REQUESTED A REDUCTION IN VOLUME.

this is not from tariffs.

this is for maga reasons.

ups doesn't want to do business with china lovers.
