Laws mean nothing to the right wing, and their gawds like trump:

"Threatening government officials of the United States is a felony under federal law. ... Threatening other officials is a Class D or C felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C"

I understand. My point was that chanting "Hang Mike Pence" does not constitute a threat. Nobody threatened to hang him. They were just advocating that it be done or it was a way to express opposition to his actions. If they were really intending to do it someone would have to say "I'm going to kill Mike Pence." A specific person has to threaten a specific person with a specific act.

Nazis could chant "Kill all Jews." The KKK could chant "Kill all Blacks." Communists could chant "Overthrow the U. S. government with violent revolution." None of those are criminal threats.

Typical for the right wing to use the Clinton defense of "It depends on what is is". If I threaten to hang someone, build a gallows, and then run around with a rope to hang him with, that is a threat.

I defended nothing--I was just citing the law as I understand it.

Explaining something is not the same thing as supporting it. Your thinking is binary. Unless I agree with your claim that they threatened Pence you are making the erroneous assumption that I must be defending their actions. I do defend their free speech (but not when trespassing).

There was no violent overthrow of the government.

You forgot to answer what "accident" is involved in laws involving threats.

Pence people are being encouraged to show up at the Witch Trial to condemn Trump, and anyone who claims to agree with him about anything. This is all about finding dissidents and then silencing us.
