Thoughts on the Republican Convention.

The hard right don't like Trump the mushy middle won't like Cruz (too religious).
The hard left don't like hrc the mushy middle don't like her either.
If it's hrc v Cruz it's close and no body is happy.
If it's hrc v Trump it's less close but Trump
If it's Bernie v Cruz it's close but probably Cruz
If it's Bernie v Trump it's not close and Trump

Or BO declares martial law and we.have a whole new ballgame. Which is to say anything can and probably will happen.

Whoever wins they will be one termers. Nobody will survive the next economic meltdown. Why do you think nobody worth a damn is running ?

Can you not read? Trump loses to anyone by double digits. Despite winning every poll, I can see Bernie losing to a legitimate candidate (such as Cruz or Kasich) because he is a socialist, and many people will refuse to support him that would otherwise support Hillary...

Requiring a photo ID would deinfrancises voters. My voter ID card has no photo, but I use it to vote.

why would a photo ID disenfranchise any voter.......unless of course the "voter" didn't look anything like the person registered to vote.......

You think polls in April mean anything ?
And as has already been demonstrated, polling has not sorted out how to poll with the wild card that Trump is.

On the voter ID issue, I am fine with requiring an ID, but they need to make it very easy to get one.

To many of us it seems very easy to get a state issued ID, but since the Patriot Act it has become harder and some people, mostly very poor people, its not easy. I know this from my days as a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney. People get arrested for driving without a DL, then have a very hard time getting the documents together to get a DL. Now, it is easier to get a photo ID than a DL, but they still require certain documentation that many poor people don't have and cant figure out how to get.

Because there is not a real issue with voter fraud in this country, I find it suspicious that the Republicans keep pushing this issue. Why would they push this so hard when voter fraud is not a problem?

The only case of voter fraud I have ever heard of was regarding Ann Coulter when she tried to vote in the wrong precent.

Sure they mean something, not near as much as polls in October, but yes they mean something.

Why do you think the campaigns pay millions for private numbers?

Targetting to drive actions. High level ones for public consumption are cheap content for media.

You haven't been listening to desh, have you? According to her, every time a republican steps into a voting booth, they are committing voter fraud. And FYI, this is how the Coulter case worked out:

"Knowingly voting in the wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The county elections office had received a complaint in February 2006 that Coulter voted in the wrong precinct during a Palm Beach Town Council election.

According to the sheriff's report, a poll worker said he told Coulter that she had arrived to vote at a precinct that was correct for her current address but not for the address listed in voter registration records.

Coulter then asked where she should vote and left to vote at another precinct, the report stated.

The poll worker said Coulter "may have misunderstood him" that she simply needed to change the address in voter registration records, and not vote in the wrong precinct."

OOOOOOOOOOH! SCARY REPUBLICAN VOTER FRAUD!!!!!

You promised us a "fun and very interesting debate", Jarod. It has been neither(for me at least). I don't think I'm alone in thinking that I don't care which republican runs against either of those moron democrats. Hell, They could settle it in the proverbial "smoke-filled back room" with an arm wrestling contest as far as I'm concerned, and Trump could change his slogan from "Make America Great Again" to "Trump, Because Why The Hell Not?", and I'd still vote for him.

Democrats make it a regular habit to claim that requiring ID prohibits or severely limits participation yet require ID to attend their events.

Seems hypocritical to claim something that prohibits participation is required by those making that claim.

Oregon's had mail voting since 2000 and they don't have fraud.

Woon said voter fraud is "extremely rare" in Oregon. The State Elections Office got thousands of complaints of possible voter fraud since 2000, but there were only 13 cases of actual fraud found, none in Deschutes County.
Most voter fraud complaints turn out to be simple mistakes, rather than actual fraud.
"People forget to sign their envelopes, or they thought they could sign the envelope of their loved one," Woon said.
Woon said voting might be easy in Oregon, but committing voter fraud is not, due to strict guidelines in place.
"Between the post office and our records system, which are regularly updated and confirmed, voter fraud hasn't come up as a huge concern," Woon said. "Our county clerks are running a pretty tight ship."

I hope Trump gets most of the delegates and the GOP chooses someone else.

That will be the absolute death knell of that party.

:)

Yes. Only the fringe left and gop party members hate him. Everybody h ates HRC and that isn't budging.

So, the party that is getting crashed by dumbfuck Dems and other social losers, doesn't like the guy they might get stuck nominating for president? I can see what a recipe for success that promises to be...
