This may sound a bit racial but...

"Eventually we as a society will wake up and realize we need to arm ourselves, as the government welfare programs have produced a culture of entitlement for a certain segment of our society. Those fools feel entitled to live above the law and do violence at will. Remember when your mom was robbed? At gunpoint? Black Thugs."

Maybe if I add the sentence before the quote I made above it will be more clear that this man was motivated by the rhetoric about entitlements.

Just what is your beef Jughead....

Are you claiming there is no 'culture of entitlement"....or that gov. welfare programs didn't create them....or that there is no segment of society that feels entitled to live above the law.... or what.....

Its certainly true that some people do act because of religious, political, social beliefs and even just for kicks......are you trolling for someone to deny that. The motives people have for the things they do is just about infinite....

LMAO... so... again Garud... are YOU like HIM? Do you hear the word 'entitlement' and think 'black people'?

No, I think... made up propaganda bullshit.

But this guy heard the argument about entitlement and thought...black people... someone needs to shoot them.

Or you could have just posted the link to the article so we all could read it instead of giving it to us in bits and pieces without full context and trying to have a discussion off that.

I did.

And of course the fact that his girl friend's mother was robbed at gunpoint by black thugs had nothing to do with frame of mind or this shooting....

It was Republican rhetoric about entitlements that cause the whole thing....

. Jarod....I think you're ready for MSNBC....

So you don't see an increase in the use of entitlement programs? Food stamp usage hasn't gone up? You think that is all made up?

Do you think discussion of entitlement programs should be stopped?

I don't consider food stamps an "entitlement program".

I think honest discussion of programs should continue, I think the term "entitlement program" is an attempt at engendering class warfare and distrust of poor people. To a racist, the term dehumanizes those they consider entitled and makes it more acceptable to kill them as we saw in the Dunn case.

LMAO... do you even understand the term? Food stamps is absolutely an entitlement program, regardless of your belief to the contrary. Perhaps you should look up the definition and educate yourself.

you want an honest discussion, yet you don't even know what entitlement programs are? How would you recognize if someone is being honest if you don't even know what entitlement programs ARE?

You think the phrase 'entitlement program' dehumanizes a person to a racist? Wow. The absurdity of that is mind boggling.

You start in 1954 by saying ‘Nigger, nigger, nigger.’ By 1968 you can’t say ‘Nigger.’ That hurts you. It backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states rights and all that stuff and you get so abstract. Now you talk about cutting taxes and these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that’s part of it. I’m not saying that. But I’m saying that if it is getting that abstract and that coded, we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. Obviously sitting around saying we want to cut taxes and we want this, is a lot more abstract than even the busing thing and a hell of a lot more abstract than nigger nigger. So anyway you look at it, race is coming on the back burner.

Thank you. It was a long time ago. I don't really talk about it much, but it bothered me a bit that someone challenged my sympathy/empathy for the family of a young murder vitctim.

Sorry for your loss... but my point is that they are not different. The fact that a black man killed her in anger doesn't change the fact that she is dead. A white man killing her in anger would not have resulted in anything different.

That is so very easy to SAY. But you can make up reasons for supposed 'codes' in just about everything.

I get your point. I just disagree. I think hate-based crimes are particularly offensive and should be punished more severely.

fair enough... we disagree... I think trying to discern degrees of emotion is irrelevant to the fact that in both cases a kid died without justification.

Did I say they did? I said they won't be helping Noble. Apparently they didn't feel the need to on Dunn because it didn't get the publicity of the Zimmerman trial.

You are the one that brought up the NRA, since I didn't follow the Dunn case I was simply asking if they had given that we have been discussing those two cases. The NRA also did not defend Zimmerman, they defended the SYG laws. There is a difference.
