I have a military pension along with Tricare, but after age 65, Medicare is billed first, Tricare second. Only the rich can afford to not need medicare in retirement. Ergo, he's either rich or lying about Medicare.

Medicare is billed first for us as well, then our supplemental plans pick up the slack. He has BS/BC; I have Humana. We have not had any issues finding providers who take Medicare, nor have we had any arguments over whether something is covered or not. I take one prescription that is 100% covered and another that is $4 for a 90-day supply. Pretty sweet and a lot less expensive than the corporate-provided insurance we had when we were working.
