You do know that I wasn't talking to you but Mott who has a sense of humour unlike you? I noticed how you missed the bit about wearing high viz tabards. If left to the likes of you, each soldier would have to complete a risk assessment, a method statement and give the Germans a warning before engaging them.
As for contact tracing, didn't anybody tell you about tracing apps? I bet your kids go to a private Jewish school, amirite? It's easy for wealthy bastards like you to pontificate about others, I am damn sure you won't suffer any adverse consequences, people like you make me sick!

Sounds like a lot on the extremes of both parties. Why Irish soldiers who fought Hitler hide their medals
He was one of about 5,000 Irish soldiers who deserted their own neutral army to join the war against fascism and who were brutally punished on their return home as a result.
They were formally dismissed from the Irish army, stripped of all pay and pension rights, and prevented from finding work by being banned for seven years from any employment paid for by state or government funds.
A special "list" was drawn up containing their names and addresses, and circulated to every government department, town hall and railway station - anywhere the men might look for a job.
It was referred to in the Irish parliament - the Dail - at the time as a "starvation order", and for many of their families the phrase became painfully close to the truth.
They didn't understand why we did what we did. A lot of Irish people wanted Germany to win the war - they were dead up against the British."

That is what it boils down to for you. If we cannot prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this will kill a lot of kids, you say take a chance on it only killing a few kids. And you don't even care if it spreads and kills others.
If this were being done carefully, I would not be so worried. The Germans seem to have good plans. But the same people who are demanding we reopen the schools are also saying no masks, and that this is all a hoax.
The facts are that without contact tracing, we will not know the mistakes we make until it is VERY BAD. And children have mostly been dying in countries without universal healthcare, and with obesity problems. America is without universal healthcare, but certainly has obesity problems.
We know that in 2009 H1N1 claimed mostly kids and the elderly and affected 60 million Americans.
I don’t recall having this debate about keeping schools open back then. I don’t recall teachers unions making absurd demands like defunding cops over it.
I don’t recall motorcycle fatalities being counted as H1N1 deaths. I don’t recall a ‘died with H1N1’ as a category. I don’t recall insane numbers of tests being done and then having shell games done with the numbers.
I recall none of that. But I recall that H1N1 claimed *mostly* kids/young people and the elderly.
Anyone who isn’t at least a little bit skeptical about some of this business isn’t paying attention. But it’s interesting that in 2009 there was no national debate about whether to start the fall semester yet it was *known* that kids were an affected population.
Maybe you can explain why that is.
Polls don't mean anything.
Do you really expect to get a sensible answer out of Salty?
Just FYI - the purpose of Into the Night isn't to have a good faith debate about anything.

phase one doesnt have a suspension in it. lies. China is reacting to Hong KongVery few people died from H1N1 directly. If they counted the actual deaths, it would be a tiny number. Most doctors will tell you they have never or rarely seen a flu death. The numbers of dead were statistical in the form of additional deaths. So you look at the number of deaths you would expect to see, and then look at the number of deaths you did see. Some of those deaths would be motorcycle deaths. Deaths by accident go up with disease, because people who are sick make poor decisions.
Convid-19 is bad enough that you can actually assign deaths to it. The number of statistical deaths is going to be several times higher. It is impossible to compare apples to apples yet, but when we do Covid-19 will be at least 10 times worse than H1N1, and might be 100 times worse.
In the first month of H1N1, Obama did a million tests. There was contact tracing. There was real work to try to keep it from getting out of control. Other countries really rolled out of the stops to try to get Covid-19 under control. Sadly, America has not.
Right now, Covid-19 is spreading like wildfire in Red States. Deaths are creeping up, and hospitals are reaching 100% of capacity. As bad as things are, they are about to get far worse.
And that is just the disease. The world supply chains are remaking themselves. Everything is being redesigned. And America is being excluded.
trump says not to worry, he has a deal to sell soybeans (and some other agricultural products) to China. I don't sell soybeans. Soybeans are a low margin business. It is a product of poor countries like Brazil. And worse yet, the Chinese have suspended honoring the treaty to buy the soybeans, as they are allowed to by the poorly written treaty.

ridiculous, and you lied about a "suspension mechanism".The Chinese already said they would not make soybean goals, as they were allowed to because of economic problems. Hong Kong has meant a complete cutoff.
Thought the Chinese were happy with trump's support for their concentration camps, so there is a chance they may go back to government mandated soybean purchases. That might be worse for our economy, as we become a derivative socialist state selling low margin agriculture.
Once again, I am not a soybean farmer, so giving up on the high tech parts of the economy for soybeans hurts me, whether it is good for soybean farmers or not.
But the *fact remains* H1N1 was known to be a threat to kids and a discussion about closing schools wasn’t even on the radar.
You are wrong. When outbreaks are connected to schools, they close down. It has happened recently, including when H1N1 happened.
Locally.

LOL, at what other level do you think school closing decisions are made? During the H1N1 pandemic, we could rapid test, contact trace, and target shutdowns appropriately, and this DID happen. Since we have none of that because the god awful Federal response, we are far more vulnerable to a far more contagious and deadly virus. Very early on, CDC issued guidelines about when to close schools, so your claim that it wasn't even on the radar is TOTAL BULLSHIT. What a shock, you got it wrong again.
Was Obama having to push against Republicans and the teachers unions about opening schools up?
Did I miss that part?
He literally makes up facts out of whole cloth to support his positions. It's remarkable.
