The post-truth era

I heard this phrase for the 1st time tonight, and it really struck me. This is where we're at. There is no more apt description of the kind of world we live in right now.

We have a President-Elect who is a pathological liar. Let's all get that out there right now - I'm tired of people tapdancing around that one.

We have fake news, which millions now seem to adhere to. To get back to the President-Elect, we have a new leader who actually cites fake news as fact.

We have the "real" media, which is biased every which way. Journalism as we knew it is almost gone.

Lies are celebrated, as long as they're effective & get the job done. People who value truth are chastised for taking things "literally."

And that, truly, is what can best be described as the post-truth era.

Stupid cuck! Go eat the shit of the evil globalist bankers that the NYT and WAPO fake news out!

Some....but its too tedious to respond to them all....this my take on some of what you call "unbiased" conclusions.....
Tampa, Florida

1. Falsely said, “In Hershey Pennsylvania last night, we had an arena, we had 27,000 people show up.” (The arena has a capacity of 10,500. Some people were turned away, but not nearly 16,500.)

How does this clown know how man people showed up, or were inside the arena, or were outside the arena....answer, he don't

2. Falsely said, “Hillary said ‘I did not like Donald Trump’s lewd language’… I’ve never said what he said in my life.” (Clinton did not call Trump’s comments about women and sexual assault “lewd.” She has called them “horrific,” “demeaning” and “degrading.”)

This claim is too lame to argue about...as Hillary would say, "What difference does it make"

3. Falsely said, of the Florida primary, “Remember and most of you were there… we won 66 out of 67 counties… but we won 66 out of 67 counties. That’s never happened before.” (Trump was not the first to win 66 of 67 counties. Bob Dole did in 1996 and George W. Bush did in 2000, Politifact noted.)

Its never happened before ...well it hasn't, to him or maybe he was comparing this
to how many counties he won in other states....

4. Falsely said, of the 67th Florida county, “We almost, we almost, won that last one too.” (Trump lost Miami-Dade County 63 per cent to 23 per cent.)

His opinion, is he not intitled to his own views.

5. Falsely said, “They don’t ever show my crowds.” This was repeated at his third and fourth rally of the day. (Various media outlets show Trump’s crowds. One pool camera stays fixed on him at all times.)

Hyperbole...'ever'....? big deal...

6. Falsely said, “Last night Obama had a protester and they wouldn’t turn the camera to the protester. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen that.” This was repeated at his second rally of the day. (Various cameras showed the protester; as always, the pool camera remained fixed on Obama.)

So what?...If it was the first time HE ever saw it, it was the first time he ever
saw it.....why claim its a false statement....

7. Falsely said of Bill Clinton’s airport meeting with Loretta Lynch, “I thought it was 39 minutes; turned out to be 45 minutes… they had a meeting for 45 minutes.” (It was not.)

ABC said ABOUT 30 minutes, no definite time. he heard 45...again, "what difference does make", how long it was....the meeting itself is the issue, not the exact time.

8. Falsely said, “We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world.” (The U.S. is not even highest-taxed in corporate taxes; it is close. When all taxes are considered, it is below-average for major countries.)
Trump hands a baby to his head of security after bringing him on stage and kissing him at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Trump made 14 false statements at this Florida rally.
Trump hands a baby to his head of security after bringing him on stage and kissing him at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Trump made 14 false statements at this Florida rally. (DAMON WINTER / NYT)

Politifact says ""Right now we’re the highest taxed country in the world," Trump said on Feb. 6, 2016.
Trump’s campaign didn’t respond to us, but his claim could be accurate if he had been more specific. We’ve previously rated a statement that the United States has the highest corporate tax rate Mostly True, but Trump did not specifically say the corporate rate at the debate. So, to be totally fair, he is wrong on this one.
And they're left wingers....
The stuff about the baby is just irrelevant bullshit.

9. Falsely said, “The Cubans just endorsed me. They gave me the Bay of Pigs Association Award.” (Trump was not endorsed by “the Cubans,” or even a broad organization Cuban-Americans. He was endorsed by Miami’s Bay of Pigs Veterans Association. He did not receive an “award.”)

WOW...big lie? it was an endorsement and not an award....lame at best

10. Falsely said, “It’s just been reported that as a result of our open borders, violent cartels have spread into all 50 states.” (There is no apparent source for this. A government report in 2015, not recently, alleges a cartel presence in most states, but not all.)

His opinion...so there is no source for the statement yet this guy says most of the states
How the hell does know if its most of the states without a source...again lame

11. Falsely said, “More than 90 per cent of those arrested are here illegally… 90 per cent, think of that, 90 per cent are here illegally.” This was repeated at his second rally of the day. (It is not precisely clear what Trump was talking about, but illegal immigrants represent well under 10 per cent of arrests.)

the claim is ambiguous...no context, probably talking about illegals only

12. Falsely said, “As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton allowed thousands of the most dangerous and violent criminals to come into the country, go free, and wouldn’t send them back to their home countries… and we would never force them in.” This was repeated all three other rallies rally of the day. (It was not Clinton’s decision to release undeportable illegal immigrants. The Supreme Court ruled in 2001 that they could not be held indefinitely.)

No, not her call to make, but she does agree with Obama who did make the call...

13. Falsely said, of Clinton’s crowds, “The only way she gets them to show up is when she has a star come. That’s the only way. Otherwise she gets 500 people, 400 people.” (Clinton regularly draws thousands of people.)

When is the proof either way?...lame again,,,I've never seen the size of her crowds except when she had celebrities there....

14. Falsely said, “She’s going to raise your taxes.” This was repeated at his second and fourth rally of the day, adding: “She’s also raising your taxes very substantially folks. Big, big tax increase.” (This would only be true if he was speaking to an audience of rich people. Clinton is only raising taxes on the highest earners. The Tax Policy Center says most residents below the top 1 per cent will receive minor tax cuts under her plan, and even most of the highest earners will not see a doubling.)

opinion....opinions aren't lies...

Wilmington, North Carolina

15. Falsely said, of the illegal immigrant drunk driver who killed Leanna Newman, in 2007, “People that knew him begged to have him incarcerated or deported. But they wouldn’t do it.” (There is no evidence anyone close to him asked for his deportation or incarceration.)

There is no evidence they didn't either....

16. Falsely said, of his crowd in Selma, North Carolina, “We had 23,000 people.” (The crowd was smaller than 20,000 people. Wrote the Washington Post’s Jenna Johnson: “Trump said at least 15,000 were at his rally in Selma, NC. In NH this morning, he upped it to 20,000. Just now in Ohio: 21,000.”)
In North Carolina, Trump falsely said of Clinton, “There was no ISIS when she was secretary of state, at the beginning.”
In North Carolina, Trump falsely said of Clinton, “There was no ISIS when she was secretary of state, at the beginning.” (Evan Vucci / The Associated Press)

So did this guy count how big the crowd was....I think not...at best a little exaggeration....petty and lame

17. Falsely said, of Obama, “Wherever I go, I see him screaming at people that are protesters.” (Obama has not screamed at protesters during the campaign. Trump was falsely describing Obama’s reaction to a protester this week in North Carolina, for whom Obama urged respect and calm.)

18. Falsely said, “There was no ISIS when she was secretary of state, at the beginning.” (Clinton became secretary of state in 2009. ISIS was already using the name Islamic State of Iraq in 2006.)

On April 9, 2013, Baghdadi declared that Jabhat al-Nusra was part of al-Qaeda in Iraq — and that the new group would now be known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS. But Nusra's head, Jowlani, refused to join up.
This left ISIS to "gradually emerge as an autonomous component within the Syrian conflict," according to Lister, by absorbing Nusra fighters and territory in northern and eastern Syria. In February 2014, ISIS was formally exiled from al-Qaeda, making it and Jabhat al-Nusra into enemies.

This is the petty bullshit the biased media and fact checkers called LIES...Hillary told more lies than this at the hearings in Congress alone....lol
Not lies about petty bullshit but lies of a serious nature, classified material, secret emails, destroying emails, not turning over work emails to the gov.

Good someone took the time to do that.

Lying 'fact checkers' lol? Say it ain't so.

Good someone took the time to do that.

Lying 'fact checkers' lol? Say it ain't so.

And an addition to the first one....

Trump talks economy, job growth to Hershey crowd of 13,000....in an arena holding
10,500 with an estimated 7000 outside .... 20,000 estimated in total....RSBN says there was probably 20,000 at the rally and 42,000 watching online.
The point is,
I don't Hillary ever had a crowd like that even with her celebrity entertainers....who cares if its
not an accurate count to perfection of the size of the crowd....in plain speak...it was HUUUGGGEEEEEE !
http://www.wgal.com/article/trump-rally-wraps-up-in-hershey/8245358

Holy shit, bravo. That is the LAMEST list that someone chose to put together - I wouldn't have even called most of those lies without the double fact-check.

You guys are pathetic hacks. You, Darth & whoever put that little "fact check" together. I honestly just feel sorry for you. You're going to be trying to do this juggling on a unicycle routine for the next 4 years to protect the idea that Trump is some kind of honest gentleman, which only those who have a "MAGA" tattoo think, even for a second.

Donald J. Trump is a textbook pathological liar. Sorry.

Nova, thank you! But remember, these are the liberals who have ignored the lying liars of their own party at all costs, the effort is like spitting in the wind.

Please, Trump lies pretty much everyday. It may be an exaggeration, but he knows he has no proof, but makes a claim anyway, just like he did with Boeing.

Stop being a blind apologist for him.

fuck off, Yurt.....remember I am still you until the 10th.....I can really fuck up your reputation......perhaps by pointing out you're so fucking stupid that Gomer "thanked" you.....

Stupid cuck! Go eat the shit of the evil globalist bankers that the NYT and WAPO fake news out!

Einstein is not dead, evidently - he had his brain amputated and works for Trump. Where do you get these ghastly aggressive peasants from?

Let's get this list built folks!

1. ISIS wasn't on my intelligence radar screen
2. You can keep your doctor
3. Stimulus will create shovel ready jobs.

More from the master of in-truth era speak.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama stated that “Over [the] last eight years, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland.”

Talk about something actually deserving of being labelled as “fake news.”
Obama’s statement obscures the reality that the U.S. has faced 66 Islamist terrorist plots against the U.S. homeland during Obama’s time in office, 13 of which were successful.
When President George W. Bush left office, the U.S. had faced 28 Islamist plots after 9/11, only one of which was successful. Now there have been 93 Islamist plots since 9/11, and 14 successful attacks.

Obama’s statement is technically accurate since none of these attacks were planned and directed from abroad. Instead, the vast majority of the terror plots and all of the successful attacks since 9/11 have involved homegrown terrorists—that is, terrorists who radicalized and plotted here in the U.S
While preventing such foreign orchestrated plots is vital, it is no longer enough. The threat has morphed and the U.S. must now do more to counter homegrown and lone wolf Islamist terrorists.

Obama’s comment obscures the truth that in his eight years in office, as shown by the sharp increase in the number of Islamist plots and successful attacks, the homeland has been less safe.
Claiming victory while the U.S. is in the most active period of terrorist activity since 9/11 is not only pushing a false narrative, but it risks diverting our attention from what needs to be done to defend the U.S. homeland.

J Craft - I didn't vote for Obama in '12. I also didn't vote for Hillary this past election.

You voted for Trump. And I have no doubt that "dishonesty" was something you talked about in relation to Hillary throughout the campaign. But yet here we have Trump, who by every study & measure lies compulsively...and you don't care.

All you can say is "Obama."

Why the sudden obsession with the truth? You've had 8 years to condemn lying.

See my post to J Craft. I didn't vote for Obama last time, or Hillary. I started threads on Hillary's dishonesty.

I find it hilarious that you're the one accusing others of a double-standard. You harped on Hillary's dishonest all through the campaign. Really, it was the top issue for you guys. Now that Trump has been elected, it's all "you shouldn't have taken him literally," and (this next one is yours), "as long as no one can prove it's made-up, it isn't a lie."

It's sad to listen to koolaid-drenched hacks try to rationalize their double-standards. You are one of those that is in complete, 100% denial.
