First of all, yes. Sorry to disappoint you. If Crusaders, Ottomans, etc. only wanted to spread the faith and get converts, they'd be called missionaries, not conquerers. They would have set up their houses of worship, put someone in charge, and left. WTH do you think Ottoman EMPIRE and Holy Roman EMPIRE mean anyway?
