Trump "obliterated " their nuke program just a few months back and told us all it would be years of safety for us as Iran would need that long to be a threat again.

Was he lying?

Of course that was before just a few months later he spoke of the urgency to attack Iran who he said was a week away from hiking America.

1948. We were the first nation to recognize the new nation.

Despite the Jew-hating MAGA morons, the United States has national security interests in Israel. It's the only democracy in the entire region. Like Britain in WWII, it's akin to an unsinkable aircraft carrier for our planes and crews to refuel or stage for an attack.

After 75 years of constant attack by Islamic forces, Israel has clearly become more RW'd, but like the US, I think they'll move back to center after this war. Most Americans are against Trump's Forever War in Iran but not a single stateside American has been killed or injured in it unlike the Israelis who are living under a threat of constant attack.

Over the years, thanks mostly to the United States since Carter, Israel has made peace with most of their neighbors. Specifically Sunnis AKA Arabs. It's the Shi'a Iranians who have been supporting terrorist groups in Gaza (Hamas) and Lebanon (Hezbollah).

I think a direct assault on Iran is having the opposite of the desired effect. The Third Option was taking longer but it was working. Now Trump is threatening war crimes on Iran which will only serve to unite the people since he's attacking all of them and making them suffer.

Trump did obliterate their nuke program. And perhaps there would be years of safety, but Trump is playing the long game to make sure Iran gets their missiles, ships, leadership and other military weapons bombed to the dustbin of hell.

So if he did obliterate it buying us YEARS of safety then his basis for going back saying they were a week away from nuking the US was a lie.
