“Texas Could Vote to Secede From U.S. in 2023 as GOP Pushes for Referendum”

In 2016 people in California briefly talked about wanting to secede. It doesn’t matter what state it is, it’s not happening. I guess it feels good in the moment to discuss but then the real world intervenes.
wasnt that a Jefferson state thing?

wasnt that a Jefferson state thing?

That’s a separate deal. That’s about creating a new state, not leaving the Union. This was over people being pissed about Trump winning and wanting California to leave the U.S.

“Texas Republicans are pushing for a referendum to decide whether the state should secede from the U.S.”

“The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.”

“Under a section titled "State Sovereignty," the platform states: "Pursuant to Article 1, Section 1, of the Texas Constitution, the federal government has impaired our right of local self-government. Therefore, federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment rights of Texas should be ignored, opposed, refused, and nullified.”

Could the rest of the country be so lucky?

That would really fuck over millions of senior citizens, many (if not most) of whom are (R) voters. Your Medicare benefits don't work outside the U.S. Oops.

They can take Texas and shove it as far as I'm concerned, after this latest bullshit:

Texas Republican party adopts far-right position that homosexuality is ‘abnormal’

The Republican party in Texas has officially adopted a series of extreme-right positions that includes claims Joe Biden was not legitimately elected and homosexuality is “abnormal”.

In a platform adopted at its biennial convention in Houston, delegates voted to oppose “all efforts to validate transgender identity”, including the use of taxpayer funds for any “medical gender dysphoria treatments or sex change operations”.

The anti-trans and anti-gay declarations are part of the state party’s new guiding principles, in a section titled homosexuality and gender issues, which contradict claims by some Republicans that the GOP wants to be more inclusive.
...
In another section dedicated to education, the platform calls for students in Texas to “learn about the humanity of the preborn child”, by witnessing a live ultrasound and the use of fetal baby models. The supreme court decision on abortion access is expected in the coming days, but Texas has already criminalized abortion in most cases.

The resolution embracing falsehoods about the 2020 election stated that “substantial election fraud in key metropolitan areas significantly affected the results in five key states in favor of … Biden.” The state party rejects “the certified results of the 2020 presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States.”

ROFL, I love how leftists reveal their anger, hatred, and stupidity when it concerns Texas..........I assure you that with the oil exports alone, the US would need TX more than we need the US. However, the current batch of idiot republicans in TX are clueless because the state constitution does not give them an option of secession. What it does do is allow TX to divide itself in to 5 states. This alone would be a better option because it would give TX and the right 8 more senators, allowing them to control that branch.

The Texas Constitution does not need to give them an option of secession. ALL States have the inherent right to secede, assuming the people of that State choose to do so.

That’s right, just like “birdman” told us before that God gave man the right to own a gun

Interesting. If that's the case, then how did the following states secede and form their own union?

South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

(Kentucky and Missouri had declarations of secession and full representation in the Confederate Congress)

The GOP would lose every electoral college vote afterward if Texas successfully seceded...

ROFLMAO. Thank you, sir, for a POV I hadn't considered. Seeing something new is truly a wonderful experience for me. Kudos and agreed.

Secession is bad for Texas and bad for America? Why would some asshole suggest such a thing?

Do you understand the definition of DESERT?

They are know for having ARID CLIMATES.

Something one measely little river that in some spots is little more than a stream would have no effect on.

Plus, you have yet to establish exactly where these materials are being stored.

For all we know, they could be 50 miles from the nearest water.

But you keep on lapping up that Trump gizz Kool Aid. :good4u:
The valley isn't a desert moron. I knew you haven't ever lived here . They are in Eagle Pass Texas stored near the river.
BTW we don't all ride horses either.

Moron.

If you look at the pieces of steel in the foreground, you can see that there is no rust whatsoever.

Moron.

Doubtful, those oil companies aren’t even national let alone State, and if your other scenario played out, California alone could invalidate anything Texas did, besides, can’t even imagine what those five Texas States would look like

How does the SDTC invalidate anything in Texas????!?

This map is in error. Seven States never chose any electors.

You kidding, Trump built something like twenty eight miles of actual new wall, the vast majority of spending went to repair and replacing wall, and the majority of that was already in the planning stage before Trump took office, besides, Mexico never delivered with the money

Making shit up isn't going to cut it, dude.
