“The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.”

“Under a section titled "State Sovereignty," the platform states: "Pursuant to Article 1, Section 1, of the Texas Constitution, the federal government has impaired our right of local self-government. Therefore, federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment rights of Texas should be ignored, opposed, refused, and nullified.”

ROFL, I love how leftists reveal their anger, hatred, and stupidity when it concerns Texas..........I assure you that with the oil exports alone, the US would need TX more than we need the US. However, the current batch of idiot republicans in TX are clueless because the state constitution does not give them an option of secession. What it does do is allow TX to divide itself in to 5 states. This alone would be a better option because it would give TX and the right 8 more senators, allowing them to control that branch.

Doubtful, those oil companies aren’t even national let alone State, and if your other scenario played out, California alone could invalidate anything Texas did, besides, can’t even imagine what those five Texas States would look like

You kidding, Trump built something like twenty eight miles of actual new wall, the vast majority of spending went to repair and replacing wall, and the majority of that was already in the planning stage before Trump took office, besides, Mexico never delivered with the money
 
Texas has some of the most extreme crackpot politicians in the country, Abbott, Patrick, Paxson, Cruz, Cornyn and Gohmert, it does not say a lot about the people who elected them either, let them secede?!!

John Cornyn, the one who is working on the bi-partisan gun bill and is one of the few kind of remaining statesmen in the Senate, is an extreme crackpot? Think that says more about you. Let me guess, Bernie and AOC are too moderate for your tastes?

Texas does not have referendum. They would have to amend the Constitution. It is just a "feel-good" issue for the convention.
