Syria: You can check out any time you want but you can never leave

We are?

ISIS is still there.

So the reason Trump gave, that you defended all day yesterday, was bullshit.
broken record of stupidity. Unable to discern an insurgency from a state, no land holding just "pockets of resistance"

The players are quite able to handle the insurgency, we are not even in combat

Yesterday, you said we had defeated ISIS in Syria.

Today, Bolton said that wasn't the case. Same with Erdogan. Same with the Kurds. Same with ISIS.

You spent dozens of posts yesterday shifting goalposts to try and rig what Trump stupidly tweeted last December, into some Frankenstein's monster-type argument.

But you need to be held to account for what you said yesterday before you start with a new tactic today.
do you want them to say "ISIL remnants" every time ISIS is mentioned?
Only a moron like yourself would be stuck on stupidity while at the same time be unable to address
perpetual presence.

any comments on Iran? Russia? Kurds? Erdogan? anything?? of course not

idiotic. we did not cause the Arab Spring(s) or Syrian Civil war.

The Syrian Civil War was caused by the Syrian drought. All the farmers migrated to the cities because their farms failed and they needed work, water, and food. Assad didn't give them that, so naturally, that led to unrest. That unrest lead to a brutal crackdown, and that brutal crackdown led to the Civil War. The drought was caused by Climate Change, and the US is one of the leading contributors to climate change.

STOP.

You've already proven that you're a gullible dupe after you spent literally all day yesterday defending Trump's tweet from December.

That's not what Trump said.

What he said was that ISIS "was defeated".

You've since been trying to shift the goalposts on "ISIS" and "defeated", and now, today, you have to completely go back on what you said before because Bolton, Erdogan, the Kurds, and even ISIS themselves are still there, still controlling territory, and still fighting.

So it's not "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", it's "ANATTA WAS BULLSHITTING".

You burned your lifeboat.

the protests (crackdown) were the cause. The drought was a contributing factor -but not the cause.

In no way whatsover were we the cause of any of it.
Now....about perpetual presence....you still wanna defend that?

do you want them to say "ISIL remnants" every time ISIS is mentioned?

But they're not remnants!

An American ISIS guy was caught literally two days go in a battle.

Fact is, ISIS isn't defeated at all. You're just agreeing with Trump as his useful idiot because he was trying to distract from the terrible economy.

I don't get why you are so determined to burn your own lifeboat.

ooh! ooh! pick me! pick me! I KNOW.

we are DONE in Syria..Get The Fuck OUT! is that clear enough??

we are not there to stop Russians or Iran, or protect Kurds or act like a fire dept for IS remnants
despite what neocon/libs want

Mission accomplished . bye! (leave it for the Russians)

Well, that is what Trump said, but from Bolton, the Pentagon, the Turks, and even the Kurds, no one else seems to be on the same page. Trump said thirty days, yet no one else comes anywhere close to that schedule, and that is if they even have a schedule

Syria is a quagmire, the whole region is a quagmire, point being you can't just drift aimlessly in a quagmire with a contradicting policy if you anticipate getting out of that quagmire, which is what Trump is doing. Just saying it doesn't make it happen

clinging to ISIS is still a viable state..it's not. It's defeated as the entity ISIS.
you are still unable to defend your perpetual presence endorsement

Only a moron like yourself would be stuck on stupidity while at the same time be unable to address perpetual presence.

This isn't about "perpetual presence". We're not even at that point in the debate. We still need to be on the same page when it comes to ISIS being defeated.

So what's happening is that because you're in the Trump cult, you feel it is your duty to try and explain the President by applying your ad-hoc definition of "defeat" and hoping that you can establish that as a truth.

Fact is, there is nothing truthful about saying ISIS is defeated, but you need it to be truthful because otherwise, you have no argument about "perpetual presence".

You're not on the same page as everyone else.

I actually agree with you here.
Trump should have just stuck to his guns and let the warpigs squeal -and that would be that.

It WASN'T a quagmire for the Russians as Obama said it would be, but if we don't GTFO, it will be for us

any comments on Iran? Russia? Kurds? Erdogan? anything?? of course not

You keep wanting to deflect away from your false position from yesterday.

We can't talk about anything else until you address the fact that ISIS isn't defeated in Syria, and never really was.

Once you come to that admission, then we can talk about the others.

But you need everyone to believe ISIS is defeated so you can push this new talking point to retroactively justify Trump's December tweet.

That's what you're doing here. You're carrying water and apologizing for the President because you've realized how you and he are intrinsically linked thanks to your blind, dumb support for him.

I seem to be able to talk to ARCHIVES - he just made a solid point.
do you want to give it a try? I thought not

the protests (crackdown) were the cause. The drought was a contributing factor -but not the cause.

The drought is literally what caused those people to go to the cities in the first place.

If there was no drought, there was no migration; and if there was no migration, there was no civil unrest; and if there's no civil unrest, there's no brutal crackdown; and if there's no brutal crackdown, there's no civil war.

You can't see the forest for the trees, and the reason is because you're an ideologue and sycophant to Trump.

I'm glad you're burning your own lifeboat...saves us the trouble.

MOVING THE BAR.

Trump said "ISIS was defeated".

They're clearly not.

So why are you moving the bar?

Is it an ego thing? You don't want to give me the satisfaction?

farmers didn't protest, it was a bunch of kids that started this ( poverty/unemployment/discontent). as usual your info is simplistic and incomplete.

Not involved in that exchange, but ISIS is not defeated, ISIS's concept of a caliphate may have been eliminated, but ISIS remains in Syria, and more importantly, or threatening, in other nations thru out the Middle East and North Africa

For Trump to declare "we have defeated ISIS, and beaten them badly" is to undermine the threat ISIS and terrorism still possesses

nope. you still cannot discern what an insurgency is from a viable state..*hint* what does ISIL stand for?

You're right.. except Syria has always had sectarian strife.. and military coups and assassinations... and Assad's regime has always just killed the trouble makers.

Again, you're talking out of your ass to retroactively try and jury-rig your argument. It's another goalpost shift.

The mass migration prompted the protests, and the drought prompted the mass migration, and climate change prompted the drought, and we prompt climate change because of our energy and climate policies.
