Supreme Court Ruling on Student Loan Forgiveness

The US should develop a QUALITY 4 year college online that is free. The first two years of courses should be transferable to any college that accepts federal money or school loans. It would lower the cost of education and make education more available to those that don't live near a college or University.

It is impossible to get a college education online. You simply do not have the association and interaction that is a big part of that college education. Same thing with being home schooled, you may learn your ABC's but there is more to school than that.

Somebody pays for someone else all the time. It's very likely that I pay more than most who post here. Is it fair that I have to pick up part of THEIR tab? We are a society, and society is no place for hyper-individualism.

complete load of horseshit. what do you have that was paid for by someone else?

Paved roads and police in another state. If I go to VA and am robbed by a meth-head WSE ex-KKK member, the Virginia State Police will investigate even though I never paid a cent for their existence.

false equivalence. people in that state WANTED paved roads and police and agreed to extra taxes, just like people in OUR state wanted paved roads and police. false equivalence. nice try, jew hater.

Slow Joe should have read the Constitution before he tried to usurp Congress.

The POTUS did not understand separation of powers.

Perhaps he does now.

Pressure on him? Why? He tried to help the students, but the Repubs stopped it. They should come up with something.

Reimburse those that did repay their loans if .outstanding loans are foregiven. It’s only fair. Otherwise forget it.

Sure you can. Schools did it during the pandemic and there are online MBA programs and all kinds of other options for the many reasons people may not be able to step on campus. And between books at the library and all kinds of courses/lectures available on the internet you don’t have to see the inside of a classroom to learn.

What you are describing as ‘college’ is the social experience and interactions and the relationships and network one builds going to school. But learning itself is a lifelong journey that is not in any way exclusive to 18-22 years olds paying $80K/yr to sit in a classroom.

When I started college it was 16 bucks a credit hour and easily affordable with a part-time job. The change in education costs is not just due to inflation. There is serious gouging going on. The students of today are taking out an educational mortgage that they will pay for decades.
If you believe an educated population is a positive for a nation, you should be shocked at what our for-profit educational system has done.
We have created a huge problem that loots young people in America and harms the country.
But none of that is important. You people who have gone before should get repaid first. That will somehow solve the problem.

Nancy tried to tell him...Her statement was definitely a factor in their decision...A very good decision, btw...:)

Forgiving student loans does nothing to address the exponentially rising cost of college, in fact it will only help increase it. The government and Universities work hand-in-hand to allow pricing to reach what it has. Beautiful thing huh?

My loans were for a state professional school. It was not inexpensive by any means.
It took me 10 years before I started earning decent income.
I lived like a roach to pay mine off. It was actually quite painful.
But I did it.
Besides you can defer those loans until death.
There are ways to work around not paying them.
I have a friend in his 60’s that has student loans. He pays about $100/mo., most of which is interest written off.
At least he’s making an effort, albeit not much of one.

Somebody passes a law and does it legally. Dementia Joe did not.

That happens every day in the country.

All I did was state reality. Loan relief would have helped the economy. It still might.
If you sign on a LOAN you should pay for your LOAN. I have never had a LOAN that I did not pay off. My dad never had a LOAN that he did not pay off. It sets a bad precedent. The President illegally taking money from one person and giving it to another is bad for the country.

Agreed with all except "the government". It's more accurate to say "politicians with their hands out"....which, in this case, are mostly Republicans but with several Democrats looking for a cut too.

Saying "the government" is like saying "the Bible" when, in reality, it's really someone like Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson....both now, hopefully, burning in Hell. :)

I got loans but I took the bare minimum that I had to get by. I knew I would have to pay it back. I knew one guy that eventually flunked out and owed 225K. I borrowed a fraction of that for my entire 4 years. My school years were very lean. My wife and I had strict budget and had less than $100 at the end of the month. I had to borrow from my retired parents to make it a couple times. (I was very sure to pay them back.) I knew some students that borrowed the maximum that they could like it was free money.
